That was, I believe, your most complete vlog, James. Lovely images created with light and lines, building mood , woven together to tell such an interesting story of a man who built a community that you obviously so love. Well done James- that’s an Award Winning photo essay, with nary a fell or a wainwright in sight.

I had seen this shot in your another video about why you shoot black and white. This time I paused the video on the first shot and just kept looking at it to feel the mood (I could) and observe the composition, the editing, the thought you must had while capturing it about how you want it to look in the final print. It was so rewarding! Thank you.
@JamesRBurnsVLOG14 күн бұрын
Thanks Rahul. The conditions that day lead to the shot of course and had a large influence on it. Years of experience and a trained eye helped me make the most of this.

Hi James, the last time I was shooting around Saltaire was late evening/night just after rain the cobbles looked great around the train station. A great place to shoot.
@JamesRBurnsVLOG2 жыл бұрын
I like that idea. I can just imagine the available light bouncing off the cobbles. Cheers Paul 👍

Love these type of black and white moody images, very Dickensian but evoke a real sense of history and nostalgia. Have recently discovered your channel and love the approach you take and mix of landscape and urban.
@JamesRBurnsVLOG2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Nick and hope you enjoy the channel. The Dickensian feel was exactly the result I wanted, helped along by the fog that day. Hope to return to the place shortly

I really enjoyed taking a trip around Saltaire with you James. You made your video so interesting by telling us the history of the place and there is definitely an award winning image in that collection. They are stunning. Who knows, maybe Saltaire will host an exhibition of your work some day.

I really enjoyed this video James. Those gritty mono images reminded me of one of the first photographic collections I bought - Shadows of light by Bill Brandt. Some of his urban images really influenced my interest in mono photography. I look forward to more of these photo essays, I think you are really good at them. Thanks.

Thanks Keith. I’ll certainly be doing more of this style. Bill Brandt and of course Kenna influenced me with a recent purchase of ‘Northern England’ 👍👍
