Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday!
Let's go urban sketching by drawing on location. Join me as I am drawing a medieval city wall gate in Amersfoort, my hometown. I took a photo every two minutes during the 25-minute process, because I think it will be helpful to see how I moved around on the paper, what kind of decisions I took, and you'll see the drawing grow. From initial lines to shadows, contrast, and a splash of color.
Now, it's your turn!
Your assignment for the week: go on a drawing date with yourself. It doesn't have to be extravagant-just grab your sketchbook and pen. Make sure it's in your bag.
If you're going to the supermarket, take an extra 5 minutes to draw on the corner of the shop, or in the parking lot... well, you'll figure it out. Sketch your surroundings!
Materials used:
-Hahnemühle Nostalgie Sketchbook, size A5
-Pilot Parallel fountain pen, size 2.4, filled with Platinum Carbon black ink, which is water resistant and suitable for fountain pens
-Daniel Smith watercolors
-Pentel Aquash waterbrush
