That last bit is why I like Keone and Madrid so much. I see lots of dancers perform where they give the impression that they are taking themselves and their dance waaay too seriously.

For the record your chemistry among each other is AWESOME!! I can imagine why it would/could be hare working together but the end result is beyond dope! Personally seeing you two dance together is why I love watching your videos! Please keep em coming!

I love their advice. Mariel kept it honest when she tells people like look! We teach advanced classes so do not come in if you are not willing to work really really REALLY really hard to learn routines. I started explorer classes and even that is hard for me, but I have fun because it IS fun :-)

Keone & Mari, you both are such inspirations. The way you guys see dance through your eyes & how you allow everyone else to see it is admirable. Dancer or not, pro or beginner, your advice always matter. Please keep continuing blessing this whole world with your knowledge & love for dance as people like me around the world learn from such great individuals such as yourselves. God bless you both!

To people asking what the "Basics" are: I believe it's having a level of awareness of your body, poise, understanding of balance, a recognition of your style (learning from a source). They're indicating that they're not there to teach that expensive, and desire that you come prepped for the real stuff. Basics can be gained in 2-5 years - depending on the style. I'm doing Capoeira, so I expect I'd take 5 or 6 years minimum before I pull a chance at UDC. What they're saying is: have something to bring!
@Crilic38 жыл бұрын
Edit: they're not there to teach to that expanse, but narrow down on the professional techniques.

Yes. Dancing is fun speaking with your body, a connection between you and the music and to communicate to the audience. I feel and believe the explanation in your interview. Thatsway is it fantastic to wacht all your you tube videos. Me and our students enjoyed very much. Make the young people happy with your dancelanguage. Once more when do you come to holland?

Hey UDC pros! :D I'm a person with an unrefined and wild natural instinct for dance (and a bit of a fighter). Just taken up Capoeira to explore how much I can extend my body. But I'ma make it my mission to reach you after I've developed a decent understanding of Capoeira to explore what UDC can really make of me :) I hope you come to Aus/send out DVDs! 😁 -CC / Crilic

Im curious.. What exactly is "the basics"? They mention that their class is a but advanced and you should already know "the basics". I'm a breakdancer and i want to get into this type of dancing but i feel like "the basics" isnt quite as defined whereas in breakdancing it is relatively clear.
@KoopaOviasu7 жыл бұрын
They derive a lot of their movement from popping, house, and street jazz. a lot of the dance community they come from have a similar background, at least in terms of broken down movement. Start with classes in those styles! Sorry that this response is so late!
