Sad to see a house like that get torn down. I know videos can't show much but for what I saw I'd say it could be saved. It's big enough that it could provide a home for many people that are down on their luck and need help getting a new start. People like myself, who ended up homeless due to things beyond their control would love a chance to work on repairs and set it up as a halfway house or such.

todd denio I was homeless years ago. But never now in today world if it will happen again. If l was going to buy a house put all your kids names on it. Way no taxes then put your grandkids names on it. Then you will have s house. Today they can’t get the home so much money in taxes. So they just don’t do it. But anyway I’m sorry about you being homeless. Just lie if anyone says anything. Other ways it’s hard to get a job.

i hope you don't run into the type of person that would be squatting in a place like this. plastic cups and plates, alcohol, white shirts not yellowed on the shoulders as they would be if they were old. i'm left wondering if you realize how dangerous it is to venture in a place that someone on the run would retreat to. if you were a killer on the run.... where would you lay your head to rest? stay safe guys.

@sweet peaches you bet your ass they have guns. Junkies rob and beat other junkies for their shit. They rape, rob and steal and they have to have their weapons to do so. I've rented my rooms out to some pretty hardcore druggies (don't think I'm ever going to get the stank of pot out of my house) and believe me...they are the ones to go to for weapons. Guns especially. This is what makes me laugh like hell at anti-gun nuts who actually believe gun control is going to work. What idiots.

Wow, it must be horrible to be (possibly) a drug addict or homeless....but staying in a place like this without trying to clean it up is so hopeless and depressing. I think the creepy feeling you are having is because they are still living there and are just out for the day. Or they recently got arrested 😬

+Kappy From the look of the kind of stuff left there as well as where it was placed gave me the feeling that several people may have been homesteading the place - perhaps unfortunate folks without a home who seized the opportunity of putting an empty place to use as shelter from the storm, as it were. As long as they didn't do any damage - no harm, no foul. That may also account for the creaking noises you heard upstairs - maybe there really was someone up there who was afraid you were the owner or the realtor, so they retreated with as little noise as possible, but that creaking old wood will give them away every time! I would also say that most of the stuff belonged to the people who owned the home while certain items were handy as though they were there for temporary use. From my perspective, someone who is homeless would not be inclined to cart around bullets and x-rays - that sort of stuff was likely left there by whoever lived there prior to the homesteaders.

Great explore. love that house. just needs some tlc. I would live there. your. friend peeking his head in the bathroom for a split second, made me jump. that little window sitting on the ground was strange. The X-ray's were kinda sad, they were buried, so you know they belonged to the owner. Guess he was sick with something before he died. Definitely squatters, but besides liking to drink & smoke, they're trying to keep the place fairly neat. Really cool old place. what a waste to let it rot. Thanks for taking us along.

This is one of the weirdest ones that I've seen yet because structurally the house looks to be in pretty good shape, both internally as well as externally, and it certainly looks to be salvageable. I don't know whether someone was squatting there or not because none of what I saw inside looked very recent, although if you were hearing noises from upstairs it's possible someone went out through the other staircase once they heard you and waited until you left before going back inside. I'm inclined to doubt that though. As for what happened to the owner, perhaps the X-Rays found upstairs offered some clue. Maybe only one person was left living there, was diagnosed with lung cancer or some such similar disease, and died not long after, and hence, the house ended up abandoned.

My grandparents share a driveway with a nice older man, or so I'm told I dont remember him, I was to young when he died. but I remember the house, we use to look through the windows the mans grown children left everything just the way it was when he last left the house. With 1 coffee cup, bowl and spoon in draining board and and everything. They finally tore it down when I was in my teens.

I'd like to know too...the cat was also probably abandoned and was hungry, thats why it was crying like that. Shoulda went back and left some cat food out for it.

@@FrankiesFancy it might have been a bird..there's some birds that sound an awful lot like cats ..but still they should've had a look for it either way

Some one was crashing there. They dont have to be Jack the ripper, just poor and homeless. Yup. They would NOT leave fullie's, the ice beer and the other bottles of whatever. You were pawing through a crash pad. I believe the bullets were in what is called a "stripper clip" kind of like a banana clip but shorter and top loading, a real economical no frills, reliable piece of gear. It looked like 7.62 to me, but I'm not a gun guy. Just knew a couple of em long ago. The favorite gun for 7.62 is an SKS assault rifle. Going back a bit, but a favored gun by the resisters in far off jungle countrie's. Easy to tear down and clean in the field. Could have a had an older VET, or a couple of em staying there. Glad you didnt catch em off guard (not likely) or make them feel threatened or put upon. Safe travels, good video!

Had to be in MD because one of the food boxes had the Mars super market logo. That is a local MD store, or was, as they sold a few years ago and finally closed.

If you wanted to know the date on the food, why didn't you look on bottom? You have big kahunas looking in there that's for sure! Great stuff.

Ya know, the best way to date/time stamp a place is look for calenders, personal belongings, such as photos and the like... Calenders are the best way, old newspapers, magazines and such are another good way... However, food items, magazines, newspapers and such could be brought in by squatters... This house was creepy, not in a paranormal way, but knowing that there were squatters in there... All in all, great vid...

Yeah someone moved in the way everything was looking. Do you check the power or water to see if it is still on? I noticed an extension cord running up the steps and going to a portable heater in that one room. Be careful and have a great day

why are there so many abandoned houses. What happened for people to leave everything behind ? there was an apt. complex that was abandoned too. anybody have any clues.

The Magazine was fairly new and there is no dirt or dust around. NO bugs on the packaged food ? They can't be that old. That is quite modern - more modern then my own house here is ! That place was not abandoned that long ago and they left fast by the looks of things - cook pot still on the stove not washed out. Blue dish in pantry as clean as can be. No dust or dirt .

I find it strange for properties to remain in such condition for decades. If you don't pay your property taxes, usually the city will take over. The odd similarly amongst all these abandoned places, is the condition the home is left in looks like they always lived this way.
