I imagine Curtis will get around to mentioning Bad Neighbors. Last October I was on my last day of the real estate inspection time frame and learned that the nextdoor neighbor ran a shake and bake methamphetamine operation and sold to drug addicts from his home. The truly disturbing part was that the seller was brother-in-law to the meth dealer but did not reveal it. There were visual signs of a problem judging from the many parked vehicles on the dealer's property. Trash and other debris are telltale signs. I think knocking on various neighbors doors and inquiring with local people in town would also help. In my case, folks on the Main Street in the town 15 minutes away we're well aware of the drug-dealing situation. Yeah, I canceled the contract immediately!

I had a similar situation in that a property I was considering had only a few neighbors in the immediate vicinity. This is a very beautiful area up near Lake Tahoe. I did some research on the neighbors and a Google search of the immediate neighbor was an article where he had been arrested for illegal guns/drugs/domestic abuse in the past. While I believe in 2A, this was a very different context. And then of the remaining neighbors, one was a convicted sex offender :( Megan's Law database should be available in every state.

Something we're considering as we look for our homestead/surf location. It's time to consider leaning towards somewhere with more rainfall, vs less. Also finding that the area, still, with more rainfall, is a cheaper initial purchase now as not many people are considering this yet. Working through Smithsonian research institute weather station data on temp, rainfall, solar irradiance, and windspeed to finalize our choice.

Again: I am amazed by the amount of science, numbers and assessment you apply to your work and how you share it with your community. The fun fact ist: You drew people to your channel with sometimes very "simple" topics ("How to grow sunflower micro-greens") and then step by step increased depth and insight... Very well made, very educating and very valuable... Nudging at its best!

I drew a circle on the map and switched to the climate and precipitation map, from there looked at anywhere there was 24” or more per year based on properties I’ve been on before. It’s not a lot but it will be enough. We collect off the roof 2000g off 1” of rain. When we installed 3 x 2000g tanks we filled them in 2 days. Pretty happy so far. That does not include any capture off the property. 80% of the 20 acres faces and slopes north so we could put a pond in the bottom. We are first installing a pond for roof rain overflow.

Is it safe to drink the water collected off roofs made of standard roofing material? I'm not aware that any roofing material is specifically designed to capture water for drinking purposes

@@bebop1984 I'm from New Zealand and now live in the US and lived most of my life drinking off a steel roof (back in the day we used to have lead head nails on the roof), I even fished a dead near dissolved bird out of my tank one day and had no filter and clearly it had been there for months. I dont know of anyone in NZ getting sick from the water so to me its pretty normal. For the first few months its tastes a bit "plastic like" Due to the new pipes and cement etc. I have a Berkey for the wife as she's American and thinks drinking roof water is weird but have met Americans from certain parts of the country where its also pretty normal. I am eventually going to filter it and also do a test for all sorts of stuff just for peace of mind.

Water is definitely an important and big issue. I was glad to hear you mention primary water. We found a place in SE AZ where people had tapped into primary water. A great source. Do you know where else in North America one can possibly find primary water? I am going to be a broken record and say I question the viability of collecting rainwater and snow melt in a climate geoengineered setting, which may be just about everywhere these days. One should at least consider a filtration system to try to get rid of or reduce the nanoparticles. Very toxic water without it, I would suspect. An insane amount of agriculture has moved into parts of SE AZ. Crazy but true. They are draining the aquifers, and people are left with no water in their wells and walking away from their properties. The agriculture folks can drill deeper wells, and will simply walk away, too, when that is no longer feasible. Getting a well in that area is becoming nonexistent. For that reason, i always look for how close the telltale crop circles are to any property in any place that looks interesting. Many think hauling water is a good option. It might be until the haulers start rationing or run out completely. Then what?

Catchment. That area is not a desert but rather a semi arid grassland. We get 14 inches of rain per year.
@marep17
@marep17 Жыл бұрын
@@fortwoods are you referring to SE AZ? Are they spraying in your sky? If so, I would be filtering any water catchment. There is a lot of nasty stuff coming down in the rain and snow in areas of geoengineering operations. Even if they aren't spraying directly overhead, they can be dragging toxic clouds of nanoparticles overhead that filter into any precipitation.

Have you looked into those machines that uses that atmosphere to create water? Just an idea to diversify your options although I guess if it's using the atmosphere, it's still using the nanoparticles you mentioned although is it different if it's at lower elevation? Great idea about the crop circle proximity

do homesteaders have homeowners' insurance? if yes, what does it cover? primary home only? if not, what happens in case tornado totals home? is hoi worth it for homesteaders?

If you use wood as your primary heat source it’s cost prohibitive to get hoi. I have a friend who’s house burned down after a wind storm kinked the chimney and nobody noticed. They didn’t have insurance. I can’t remember the cost of what insurance would have been but it was absurd. A ton of people here in north Idaho donated money to get them back on their feet. That beats insurance all day every day.

I have a commercial Farm policy from American National Property and Casualty. It covers a little bit of livestock plus my 2200 square foot home and the 20 by 30 shop and pole barn parking structure. Total cost is $2,200 per year. The agent inquired about my wood burner. So long as it was Factory manufactured and set at least eight feet from the home, they were okay with it. The cost is totally worth it for me
