I just got a shipment of turkeys and one was super weak and even took a spill in the chick water dish. I went and got an electrolyte vitamin additive for their water . It worked amazingly. Saved that chick for sure. Just a tip for anyone with weak chicks.

Any advice? Got a one year old Tom, very protective of all birds even baby chickens. Doesn't like our son, or really anyone other than me or my girlfriend or the lady down the street. He's a great gardening friend, I trust him with my cannibus but can't trust him with my son.

Interesting, our turkeys have all been overly friendly to everyone but we don’t have children for them to socialize with so I am not sure how they would be with kids. Best of luck!

How old do turkeys need to before adding to a flock? I just got 5 toms and 2 hens that are a bit over 1 yr old. I'd like to trade/sell off all but one tom and add more hens. I can get poults locally but I don't know how big I need to raise them before mixing them with the mature birds.

Once the turkeys are around the same size of the chickens we will integrate them in usually.

Hey! I raise chickens, all hens, but recently I found (about a dozen, new) turkey eggs and I was thinking about incubating them, I have checked and they are still growing inside the egg, I have not seen the mother in a while, so in the chance that I do incubate and hatch turkeys I have a few questions. I plan to freerange but also provide some food and some water. Do I have to clip their wings so they don't fly away? Do I have to worry about them wandering away/are they likely to wander more than chickens? Can I mix them in the same coop as my chickens? When can I put them outside and begin introducing them into the freerange lifestyle? Are they violent? Can I feed them chicken feed when they are grown? Will they interfere with my chickens egg production if I have males? What would happen if I get a rooster? questions are listed in order from most imortant to least important These are the questions I could think of currently, thank you.

The answer is no. If you’ve raised them from poults and contained them to where their feed, water source and roost is for at least 12-16 weeks they won’t go far even if you let them free range they won’t stray far and they’ll come back on their own to roost at night.

My first time raising turkeys and it’s been hard. Every one I had hatched died a day or two later. They don’t seem to learn how to eat or drink and they die. I tried putting one in there with chicks but it still didn’t learn in time. Then I put an egg out with the Jennie’s when it was peeping but the Tom killed it when it hatched. Out of 6 hatchlings they all died 😢. It’s definitely been disheartening. They’re not as easy as chickens. What should I do? Does anyone have any tips

@@splitarrowfarm we have 3 poults that are almost 6 weeks old and still in a brooder off of heat. I'm looking at putting them out in a pen with a few pullets, any advice? The pen they go in will be moved every other day to fresh grass. My biggest concern is do they still need luke warm water once outside? Also can they have red pepper flakes and garlic? Thanks

Some general times are: jeep them in the broader until they are 3 to 4 weeks old. Then move r hem to a protected shelter like a salatin style tractor until they are 7 to 8 weeks old. At that point they should be hardy enough to put out on pasture in a more open roosting shelter where they can roam freely. At least that's what I've learned from salatin.

Teaching children that there are different kinds of people isn't grooming. Drag is an ancient art form and children love to see bright, colorful characters- think of their love for Disneyland and similar things. Their parents are present. Nobody is seeing anything salacious at these book readings. People who grow up learning about differences in their fellow humans are much more likely to be accepting and kind- that goes for how they feel about themselves, too. I recommend doing research on the topic from a source that is more balanced- and please keep an open mind and heart. Have a wonderful day ❤
