Why? It's an important question to ask. He did state that he purchased the farm to avoid inheritance tax. Only a very small proportion of farmers will be affected by this change and any farmers concern can pass the farm down to their children 7 years before death. Surely this helps to encourage the young generation to start farming ahead of their passing. Do you honestly believe that he bought a multi-million pound farm just so he could shoot? If so surely he would have bought one in Scotland or somewhere better suited to the shooting season

I think the bbc reporter made some good points. ‘Farmer’s’ have to pay too , stop those using land as an investment and avoiding tax; this tax only affects4%. Having said that we should be paying more for British produce and taxing imports more too.
