@@Blisterdude123 I think the first episode was good, it felt like it was trying to set up something interesting. Without the context that it's simple shock horror, I think your brains way of filling in the details and thinking of different possibilities makes it scary.

CaseOH was found in his apartment, bloated to an inordinate size. A painting nearby was found, titled "Shaquille O'Meal" and depicting a bloated, massive man in a hoodie. An autopsy revealed he had been stuffed full of entire menus of KFC, McDonalds and Wendy's. After its conclusion, he walked off the table, revealing to all that he had actually survived the encounter with, in his words, "a light snack". He can be found streaming to this day.

You know, when you're studying how to write good pacing, you're specifically told not to do that. If your events aren't connected in a more "this happens, and that causes this other thing to happen, and that kicks off this chain of events..." sort of way, you're gonna have a very hard time keeping your audience's interest. There are exceptions, like specifically episodic media, but even then, the episodes themselves aren't supposed to be paced like that.

I think what frustrates me most about this series is the potential. It’s obvious the creator is very talented, I think he has a cool art style and the 911 call was one of the most disturbing(and effectively creepy) things I’ve heard from an analog horror series. But all the cringe edge lord writing makes it hard to appreciate anything about this series. Hopefully the creator moves past their edgy phase and keeps making stuff, because they have the potential to make some great stuff if they grow up a little bit.

@@melonthemelons damn, that makes me wish I could write a fanfic idea I have in my head. You probably have no idea what Warhammer 40k is about. But I’ll just say that there was a character in that franchise named Konrad Curze who was basically Batman but 10ft tall, could see the future of people he looked at and also loved to flay and torture anyone he thought was breaking some kind of law, like when he flayed alive a woman who just wanted to commit suicide. Fucked up but I’m imagining him somehow being in Borr’s story right at that point where Sam and Kyle find their loved ones in that goddamn place, Curze shows up and sees all the victims and the bad guys and skins Sam’s Dad, those fuckers Prescott and Killian and fuck it almost the whole town because isn’t that the unrealistic part? That all the adults in town know about this deep dark secret? Yeah they’d all get skinned alive by Curze and hung from the buildings. The only people spared would be the teenagers and young kids. Though if this were lore accurate Curze, everyone would be dead because he was nothing but a monster in 40k, this version of Curze would be from a fanfic where he falls in love with a blind chick and has a son with her after he try’s to redeem himself for being such a monster in the past.

I’d also recommend the channel alantutorial as it was made by Alan Resnick (a member of the group and director of most works) before he ever worked with adult swim. I think it’s a great showcase for his surrealist story telling in the classic KZbin format

Wonderful news! Urban Spook either actually listened to constructive criticism and/or planned the last two videos to progress the story. In his most recent upload he actually steps away from the formula he drove into the ground and most of the video is this really impressive blender animation or someone walking through this abandoned factory. It's so well done I cannot tell. Throughout the series US definitely experimented with new mediums to varying degrees of success and his most recent one is impressive, to say the least. Compared to the last in-universe video he attempted the killers have a really cool updated look. The gore is over the top and at the end the killer is actually caught by the police. I am genuinely excitedly waiting for the 10th video in the series. If the level of quality he put into episode 9 is what he plans to do more of in the future I really hope he extends the painter story a few more videos because it would be a shame for the series to take such a huge leap in quality only to end so quickly afterwards.

My problem with UrbanSpook is that it feels like the creator can’t pick between a schlocky campy splatterpunk series or a serious atmospheric horror thing. Also the timeline makes NO SENSE.
@argent_moon286
@argent_moon286 5 ай бұрын
This is mostly the problem I've had myself with the series. It rapidly dangles from the slasher/torture porn sort of thing and a thriller which it almost doesn't really have much of an effect when you just don't know the people killed in it. It's scare is simply just shock factor, reading about the description of where and how the murder was done or the details of the scene is horrifying to picture but it doesn't linger with you. It's just a one note thing that doesn't have much sense for me. For me, I would of liked for it to be more centered around a protagonist that knows these people. The contextual reason to why the central character is filming themselves or creating the videos is simply because they are trying to compile evidence since the people around them that they know about are dying in horrible ways and he's been targeted and being worn down. I don't know, it's just one of those things that for me is just my head canon, the videos on Urban Spooks channel are the tapes that the killers made themselves to indulge in the memory of the killings and everything.

@sirllamaiii9708
@sirllamaiii9708 5 ай бұрын
@@bushdid91195 it isn't "more descriptive", it's just making up a new word that people aren't familiar with. Everyone knows what a slasher is, and it's self explanatory. Slashing, that's what you do with blades and knives. So it's gonna be a blood fest. But "splatterpunk"? Splatter is a very vague word and if you didn't already know what splatterpunk was, you wouldn't have any sort of idea what it was referring to but a slasher film is pretty clear. When I first heard splatterpunk I thought it was some word for adult films bro. It isn't more descriptive to just give it a different name. Besides, isn't the whole [x]-punk naming trend also a pretty mundane way of describing things now?
