At 3:22 is the candle under the chandelier where St. Thomas Becket's shrine used to be.

It is currently having a major project of repair and renewal, so there is a lot of scaffolding inside and out. Looking forward to seeing it when all the work is finished.

I have to agree Juno B. Also missed out the Corona Chapel which as you know was purpose built to house the piece of Thomas Becket's skull which was hacked off by the murderous knights who entered the Cathedral through the door in the Martyrdom. The Martyrdom is considered by many to be the most revered and holiest part of the Cathedral as it is the site of Thomas Becket's murder. It pays to really study these buildings which are living, working Cathedrals before visiting them then you understand the history and significance of them and why they exist and know what to look for when visiting but a great video never the less.

Hi UWE, I chanced upon this 5 month old video on the Canterbury Cathedral while browsing YT. I enjoyed the first person tour of the cathedral and I must say its a gigantic place of worship and a beautiful one at that. I remember having read about the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby's visit to India some time last year.
@UrbanWalkingExperience4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing! The archbishop of Canterbury is now famous with his cat getting into his videos, check it out it;s funny 😀
@martineccles94772 жыл бұрын
@@UrbanWalkingExperience I'm sorry to correct you but it's the Dean of Canterbury Cathedral, The Very Reverend Dr Robert Willis who is famous for his 3 cats, Tiger, Leo and Lilly appearing each morning in the Morning Prayer videos not the Archbishop of Canterbury the Most Reverend Justin Welby.

well, I am sure iphone 13 will do a much better job. I am not very happy with this quality, but I was just starting when I made this video and used whatever I had.

I’m not a religious person but I think that tourist shop inside the Cathedral is tacky and smacks of overt commercialism. Not really surprising though considering how the Church of England has become so rapacious in recent times. When you posses what is in my view the finest building in the World a bit more humility wouldn’t be out of place.

If my house cost over 20k a day to run like this Cathedral does, I might be forced to open a gift shop myself in my living room.😀 Needs must I'm afraid as their only source of income is to be self funding through such means and possible donations from the Heritage Fund.
