Thanks Mr. Farmer (and Tiki!). With that newer tin roof, and solid construction, I believe that structure could stand for another 50 years...even if it remains abandoned.

This is almost sadder than the ones with stuff left in them because the farmer was trying to fix it up...just a shame that you can't leave your property sit empty without vandals coming in. It is a beautiful home, love the stone outside and it seems sound and solid. What's sad is there is someone out there who would be the perfect tenant and the farmer was trying to improve it so it seems like he would have been a good landlord if they could just find each other...Thanks for sharing.

He said he gave up on the renovation because he didn't think he'd be able to find anyone who could keep up with the rent. How hard can it be to find a reliable renter in an area as large as Ontario? I think there's more to the story.

Cool Place When you were in the one out building I believe that was the pump house for the well, it didn't appear to be a compressor some older houses did have water in the outbuildings or they had underground lines going from there to the house. Alao that back staircase in the basement that was closed off it looked like it went up to that area with that newer fireplace on the main floor most likely that area was an addition. other than the paintballers it doesn't look like that place was vandalized much also it appears the owner was using PEX tubing no copper only copper that would be there will be the wiring and some fittings.
@TikiTrex9 жыл бұрын
redneckbryon Thanks for the info.

redneckbryon Yeah, that blue "bottle" was a pressure tank. It is filled with water and compressed air fills the top portion, so that pressurized water can be fed to the house. Similar principle as a super soaker water gun.

Love the little room on the back with the tiny add on. (When you were outside) Watching the video and when you say the power's been cut, I often wondered if they keep the wires connected to the house... The brick house I visited had a wire connected to the house still.. at least the barn area, the meter was gone but it was the only house for half a mile anyway... but the power lines extend to the end of the road because there's a house that people use off in the woods... I guess that's a mansion and one time a tree fell during a wind storm on the powerlines and when I was out taking photos I wouldn't have noticed it unless someone caught my attention before I went any further.

@Unit389 жыл бұрын
Old houses can be prohibitively expensive to renovate. I did not get a close enough look on the exterior walls to see if they are limestone block. If the "hewing" marks on the stone are repetitive, then the blocks are merely concrete.
@ADITADDICTS9 жыл бұрын
***** If it is limestone though, it's a dam shame its not finished. That stuff is not cheap. Plus it would mean the house is fairly old, which, it is just by the fact its plaster walled and not sheet rock ( gypsum board).

Hi Tiki, I have watched all of your videos over the past week and I have to say you are really talented doing these presentations! The way you speak and offer your own spin on things is really interesting! I've often wondered about abandoned houses that I pass by and you actually are brave enough to go in! How can you keep from taking some things that you really like in these places? I most loved the Cat house, I have always loved cats and that lady really did! Some of the items in that house I would have liked to have and would have been hard pressed not to but I not a thief but I hate to see these things go to waste, especially some of the stuff in that house! Do you have any idea what happened to that house? Continue with your great posts and BE CAREFUL, try to have someone with you . Maybe Canada is different but here in the U.S. some of the places you go in to could be drug dens or something else bad. Take care, Anne

I agree w/ a lot of the comments. Unless you have $ , lots of it, it sucks you dry when you start a project like this. The more you get into it, the more you find wrong. Usually at a minimum old homes like these have to be rewired, new piping, insulation & on & on it goes. No offense to those who like orange, but I thought that looked awful.
