The House, Long outlived the owner and destined to fade into the mists of time. There were so many features that should be saved. Homes from that era should be saved, but the land values are the reason so many vanish. Nice new crackerboxes for the next generation of soulless wretches to cherish. Thanks for recording this one. Cheers.

Of all of the videos from youtubers that I have ever seen, yours is the saddest. Such beautiful architecture, stained glass, mantles, etc. 😥 It saddens me that they are wiping the land of its history. Your videos are unique that you capture the history before it's erased. It seems like they are doing a lot of tearing down only to build little boxes for people to live in. Give me the country & wide open spaces anyday. Thanks Paul for being the keeper of your country's history & for sharing it with the world. 👍💜🙋♀️🇺🇲

The sharp lines, edges and precise fitment of the outer brick work is amazing. Credit is due to both the quality of the brick makers and the bricklayers. I noticed where the phone point was in the hallway by the dark wear marks on the wall, obviously once there stood a phone table with attached seat base that you had to use the wall as a back rest. The overall size of the land must have been at least 1 acre, possibly 1.5 acre, wow what a grand block to have ! Thanks for sharing another superb piece of history.

There were some beautiful details in this place. The mantles, stained glass windows and that lovely light, I sure hope they were salvaged. Large lot, elderly owners who passed away and greedy developers, a familiar theme. I'm very glad that you are documenting these historic losses. Perhaps the local historical society might be interested in putting out a book in collaboration with you? Your camera work is excellent. Have a great weekend. Until next time, from Michigan, stay safe and healthy.

What a beauty!! Such a waste, but I do see all those big cracks, so there are some issues. Hope they saved the stained glass windows, mantles and the old door fittings etc. As orange is my favourite colour I would have loved that light fixture by the front door. Love the white plant urn by the back shed too. Guess it all went under a grader/bulldozer or just got picked apart by a crane 😢

I love it when there’s a backstory attached to the home so great work on this one .I wonder when the cracks first started appearing in these period homes. I’d suggest the increase in heavy traffic or traffic in general probably accelerates the cracking and ground subsidence.Those small fireplaces would be for coal ??? they look a bit small for firewood but the mantles were lovely and clearly you were excited to see them left .Top job mate ,, enjoy the weekend.
@urbexindigo51644 жыл бұрын
Hey mate! :-) Yeah Adelaide soil is renown for subsidence and building codes were changed in the late 60`s to combat that. The fireplaces have the coal face cover over the original opening for mostly visual purposes. Traffic and road upgrades prob for sure did not help. Glad you enjoyed the extra history mate, cheers for watching :-)

Another heart break :-( . I agree they need to salvage the stain glass and those beautiful mantles. Wonder if they removed the wood arch in the hall when they remodeled the home? It seemed to be missing, but so did beautiful wood floors (buried under carpet). Thank you so much for sharing this gem. I really worry about your safety when you explore an area like that pantry with the foundation issues. Not that you would jepordise your safety, but a large truck nearby could vibrate the walls stability. Please, be safe!!

The stained class took my breath away. The light fixture was one of my favorites. I guess if someone offers you a good deal of money that you don't have and the foundation repair would be unreachable I would probably have a heavy heart to sell. Leave it sit too long and vandals would destroy it. Mother nature will take it back as well. At least the most beautiful parts will be salvaged and enjoyed by someone else. Good bye ole girl. You made a family happy for a long time. Thanks for sharing.

That old sideboard/buffet in the "man cave" would make an excellent liquor cabinet. The orange(?)pendant light in the hall entry was beautiful. Does Adelaide have a Habitat for Humanity program there? We do in the US. We also have ReStores, which people can buy salvaged materials,appliances etc. The proceeds go into the rehab or build new homes for low income families.

Again, so sad. It seems common for Australian homes ( the older classics) to have that beautiful entryway glass in them. I wasn’t fond of that light in the entryway. It was too amber for my taste 😻.do you know if they’re going to build little crap apartments here? Also it’s weird to me how there’s very small single sinks in all of the kitchens and big double sinks in the laundry rooms. Just a shame. Also I don’t see many dishwashers in these homes. I’m just spoiled I guess from growing up and living in California. Thank you again for your hard work. I’d love to see Nicolai. 😻😻
