“Urchin Swarm” performed by Ice Locus
“On May 14, 2022, I performed on the Modular World 2nd Anniversary Show. 'Urchin Swarm' features the Potar Design Super Sound Urchin and the Azzam Bells Electro Sfera tongue drum melded together with my Eurorack system. It combines experimental soundscapes with melodic sequences and some acoustic improvisation.
I sampled myself playing the duduk, the Electro Sfera, a piano, and the sound of an announcement in a futurist public washroom in Arrowtown, New Zealand. The sounds were used by the Arbhar.”-Ice Locus

2:30 is fire! I appreciate the pentatonic melody. And it returns at 8:30. Often mod performances or drone/ambient have little of that to latch on to. And what is the horizontal strip you play/rub with the mallet? So good!

@@ScottLawrenceLawson Thanks so much! Basically I wanted the pentatonic melody so I could jam along in tune with my spherical tongue drum, so I used a sequence, but then randomized it through the slower parts. That "strip" was my wooden desk, but the contact mic in the Super Sound Urchin picked up any sounds on the desk and fed them through the Eurorack. So of course I had to drag some friction mallets! 😁🎶😎
