I bought this as a goof one night while drunk-shopping. After a few times using it, I was impressed. Perfect rice every time. A Nobel Prize for the inventor of this gizmo..

I use this for pasta and rice. 2 servings of pasta, 4.5 cups room temp water, salt, and a spritz of nonstick cooking spray to stop foam over and put it in for the time the pasta says on the package and you're good to go. Just let it sit in the microwave for a min or two before removing it to make sure it's cool enough to handle and it's come out perfect the 3 times I've tried it. So far I've tried small shells for pasta salad and twice for "pot sized" linguine sold at Wal-Mart. I'm cooking in a very small space and didn't want pasta bits to fly everywhere if I had to break the pasta in half myself. Does great for rice, too. The point of this device is to prevent spillover. Sure you can do rice or pasta in a bowl with clingfilm you've poked a hole in but no matter how you watch it, it's going to have some spillover. This cooker stops that and I couldn't be happier with it.

Update, I like it. Had to reheat and reheat ,but it cooked the rice really well! I will have to study that chart on the manual a bit more😊

Very helpful instruction. (I disagree about difficulty of stovetop - I get it set and walk away. Also, I’ve made it with as little as 1/2 cup uncooked rice. But I do agree the microwave version is a snap.)

Refer to the microwave manual. But normally you press the power button and either press 7 or 70.

To all below: The first 'Rice Cooker' I bought was the smallest and designated just for rice. Inside the cover of the book included is the measurements. Note: They include what they call a 'beaker' which should be used when using this chart. Note: Beaker is a cup. Ex. 5 1/4 beakers of water to 4 beakers of rice. I ALSO USE PARBOILED RICE. It's healthier (less starch) and it comes out fluffy instead of sticky! LOVE MY RICE COOKER!!!

I have had one these for several years and it has been the only way I have had success in cooking rice. The instruction sheet has details on how to use it for different types of rice. Somehow in my last move the instructions got lot. Is there anyway I can get another copy?

Do not stir the rice when done with a spoon, use a fork to fluff it up.

I tried this product. My opinion: 1. It's 16.5cm high. Make sure it fits in your microwave oven. 2. You have to get all the variables right, namely rice to water ratio and cooking time, so some trial and error may be required. I wasn't able to make acceptable rice the first time, and I am not one for trial and error. 3. You are much better off with a rice cooker, even a cheap one.
