Thanks for your efforts to bring this devastation to the world .Observation: In rebuilding screw down zinc sheets no nail - That container should have been bolted down on a prepared concrete foundation .: concrete structures need steel in upright posts : Perimeter beam at the top tied all round with steel Basically from foundation to top must be tied together with corrugated steel .Hope help comes and the Government engineers help by giving free structural design plans .

My prayer is that the people of my island SVG and the other islands that were hit by this storm would turn back to God. Lots of them, if you ask them, no longer have regard for God. Coming from being islands of worship to God to islands that celebrate iniquity. Just in the month of June, for example, they celebrated pride all month long. Where have you ever heard that in these islands? And don't talk about obeah and witchcraft. Galvanized is one of the best roofing there is, The problem is the installation. They have to use galvanized screws, Instead of nails. And cover the back eve properly. Wrong installation is the problem. Do your research and you’ll see how much of good protection you get from zinc.

Plenty of brand promotion to the broader public to raise donations but without equivalent dollar value worth of meaningful results on the actual affected area. Checking the Franklin's Samaritan's Purse web page, there was no mention of any flights to the Caribbean at first glance. Perhaps it wasn't major enough. Plenty of image advertising of their shiny new 757 airplane and flight centre though.

Very sad to see such devastation. My concern with many caribbean islands is the habit of building on the coast. Why not build a higher up, away from possible storm surge? And why use such flimsy material? In Jamaica we use concrete blocks and plenty steel in casting foundation and structure, and tie-straps for the roofing. It costs more but we dont end up with this kind of destuction. My suggestion, without prejudice, the government should contact the West Indies Home Contractors, in Kingston Jamaica about them being a part of the reconstruction. They have been building strong housing estates for decades !
