I got a DM who has this basic type of rule with guns 3 gun types, Double barrel Shotguns, Revolvers and Musket Rifles as a way to balance things out muskets after being fired require the rest of the turn to reload forcing you to end you turn, revolvers require a whole turn to reload unless you have speed loader then it only takes half a turn, and shotguns can be reloaded immediately, but their ammo is limited

I can definitely understand why it was a Fighter subclass, but I think it could make sense as an Artificer subclass as well.
@IMXLegedaryBard3 жыл бұрын
Now there's definitely pros and cons to subclass. The biggest pros of course the damage output you could do with firearms. The damage you could do along with the range, and the fact that you could possibly duel wield pistols is nice! And of course we're all looking at bad news, and the crazy amount of damage you could do if you crit. The only downside of course, with all that damage and the ridiculous range, you don't really have any way of overcoming creatures that are resistant or outright immune to non-magical damage. Of course that's up to the DM's discretion of how you can make magic bullets, but it is a pretty fair balance and makes sense. Because this subclass is taking on realistic approaches, in a world of magic

When evaluating this class I can’t help but thinking of the Artificer. Artificers gain Firearms as a basic proficiency. And the feat Gunner or the Repeating Shot (from yourself or Artificer friend) means you can really unload firearms (into enemies) easer. If you ant to use the class’ disarm getting Mage hand or having an Unseen Servant both pop to mind as a good idea (feat for that). So I have an nuanced view of this class so I don’t really know that I love it seems that it is okay.

How would you rule the halflings 'lucky' ability with this. Would their guns just never misfire?
@schwarzerritter57243 жыл бұрын
"You can choose to spend one of your luck points after you roll the die, but before the outcome is determined." Since you know which number is a misfire, the outcome is determined and you can not roll a Lucky die to prevent it.
@adamienw3 жыл бұрын
@@schwarzerritter5724 yeah, but I was talking about the racial ability, not the feat. However, since rereading the halflings luck is specific to attack rolls, ability checks and saving throws and would not protect against the gun misfiring.
@MALICEM122 жыл бұрын
@@adamienw the misfire is tied to the attack role, so if the halfling feat works for attack roles then it would stop a misfire.

@lt.branwulfram47942 жыл бұрын
Sure, a Battle Master is gonna be a bit more reliable but they don’t exactly regenerate superiority die on a crit or kill so it’s fairly touch and go. Precision Attack, however, could help make Sharpshooter more consistent and is a bit comparable to Deadeye Shot.

Since my DM ignores the weapon stowing and drawing rule for everyone, I convinced him to swap out that effect of Quickdraw for this: If a creature you can see makes a ranged or thrown weapon attack against you, you can spend one grit point. Use your reaction to make a ranged weapon attack with a firearm against that creature. If both your and the creature's attacks hit, your damage is calculated first. The creature's attack continues even if your attack kills or incapacitates them.
