Uriah Heep - великая группа. И вот подумал: Queen много позаимствовали у них и даже лично Freddie Mercury.

Да, мелькала мысль в сравнении Дэвида нашего Байрона и Фредди Меркьюри. Но где-то недавно наткнулась именно не на предположение, а на утверждение, что Мэркьюри взял образ Байрона на сцене за образец для подражания.

I was a huge Heep fan at that time and remember this was, at least partial, broadcasted then. After Byron left the band went in a total different direction. I kept buying the first records with John Lawton, and although he was a great singer, they lost me. I saw them on German tv where fat middle-aged women with thick glasses danced on their music, brrr... Now many years later... I saw them live a few years ago here the Netherlands in a small club and they played as if it was their last ever performance. Can't remember to have seen a band play with that fanatisme. Especially for guys nearing in their sixties and seventies. But somehow they lost me. The old Heep fan feeling didn't return.

Probably the only thing they could have done was to have him committed to a treatment center for his problems they should have done that with Gary also. But they were a touring/ recording train. Mick said in an interview that if they could have gotten Gary and David the help they needed who knows what could have been?
@farideldiwany80438 ай бұрын
Agreed. BUT it was his drinking that made life impossible for the rest of the band. Byron was sacked. On being asked by Mick Box to rejoin in 1981, Byron refused! Byron needed a year's break to recuperate. Bron the manager had other plans: 'Get lost David', to our eternal regret.

They kicked ass when I saw them open for KISS in January of 77 on the Rock and Roll Over tour. Byron and Wetton were gone by then, replaced by John Lawton and Trevor Bolder respectively. Not sure where they were booed off the stage, but if it happened, that is an audience that needs their heads examined.
