The problem is that the Rock-N-Rolk Hall of Fame is situated in the USA and, respectively, attended by those bosses. As a result, many great european bands either were introduced into it very late (ABBA) or are still absent there (Scorpions). As for "Uriah Heep", it was very much popular in the USSR from the mid 1970s till the early 1980s, being spread with tape-recoder bobbins. The last popular album was "Conquest", and after Hensley's leaving the band, "Scorpions", scarcely known before, came instead. Sergey (62), Saint-Petersburg, Russia.

@user-lz6dd7zl6p Heep were highly revered in states in 1970s.. during Byron's era.. then their popularity slowly faded and reached lows in 80 -90s They were also popular in both UK and continental Europe.. and still summon thousands of fans.. I recently attended their show in New Jersey. It was great performance.. Hall of Fame has become extremely politicized.. and that's the biggest issue.. besides of Uriah Heep, there are dozens of other bands that deserve their induction... UFO, Ten Years After, Slade, Sweet, Bad Company, Rory Gallagher, Nazareth, Status Quo, to mention just a few..

One of the best bands ever. Always thought they were as good as any band back in the seventies. Byron had one of the best rock voices of all time and they were never the same after him. Been listening to them since 1972.

URIAH HEEP is the best rock band ever. On my rock-pop piano covers channel there are two of his great songs, Easy Livin' and Lady in Black, and URIAH HEEP is next to and on the same level as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, King Crimson, Pink Floyd and Deep Purple. They deserve it!!!

I grew up listening to my uncle's Uriah Heep albums, although I later learned he didn't have all of the David Byron ones, Very 'Eavy Very 'Umble was missing, and I only discovered the ones after Return to Fantasy much later. Still, the ones I grew up with certainly formed my musical tastes to this day! I was born in '67, so the first album I got myself was actually Fallen Angel from some "surprise" package of random LP's I ordered cheaply from a "record club" I was part of at the time a year or two after it was released. I got Return to Fantasy early, but Wonderworld was a much later acquisition. I didn't even realize High & Mighty was a Byron album until many years later... But I still rate both Firefly and Fallen Angel among my favorite albums by Uriah Heep. I also was introduced to Abominog in the mid-80's, and I really liked that one. But by that time I was 18-20+, and expanding my musical discoveries in so many directions both forwards and backwards in time, that I only really discovered all the rest of Heep's other records only a few years ago.

@alanwallace53423 ай бұрын
There actually was another choice and if management had a soul, they would have done it a few years earlier. I've seen the touring schedule of the band around 70 to 76. In-freaking-sane! It is astonishing how they managed to squeeze some of their best work, Demons and Wizards, Magicians Birthday, into such small windows of recording time. They were always touring, performing, traveling. Before Gary Thain there was a pretty good bass player and singer Mark Clarke who basically said, uh uh, I ain't doing this. Everyone was doing something to cope with the stress. Clearly, Thain and Byron needed the most help. Management should have shut them down for a sabbatical, took them off the road, got them to rehab. Instead, they kept going, milked every last dime from them. Burned them out.

These were pivotal recordings in their careers not to mention those who grew up with the early inception of Uriah Heep at their best & heaviest. They certainly earned their place in Rock history.

For every good track there was so much filler and Ken Hensley's songwriting got more and more AOR. It was like success in America at any price. having since them on the 'live' tour in the early seventies when they were hungry and having seen them recently, i came away saddened that this is a band playing on long past glories. You watch the beginning of this documentary and the end and it is sp glaring.
