Demons and Wizards is the fourth album released by British rock band Uriah Heep.
The original vinyl release was a gatefold sleeve, the front of which was designed by Roger Dean and contains a hidden erotic image of male and female genitalia. The inner of the gatefold had pictures of the band and notes by Ken Hensley, whilst the LP itself was housed in a liner on which were printed the lyrics.
The songs "The Wizard" and "Easy Livin'" were released as singles in the United Kingdom and North America, as well as many other markets. "Easy Livin'" entered the US Top 40 at #39, making it Heep's first American hit. "Easy Livin'" was also a mega hit in New Zealand and Germany, countries which were becoming a strong market for the band. It reached a disappointing #75 in Australia.
Demons and Wizards was certified Gold in the US on 27 October 1972. RIAA certification The album also served as partial inspiration for Hansi Kürsch and Jon Schaffer's side-project Demons and Wizards

Yes, my favorite Uriah composition. Two songs merging to traverse a complex, multi-dimensional and hauntingly beautiful emotional soundscape. Ken's piano leading in and out of that transporting slide solo which builds and builds and miraculously captures a sense of infinite space moving around it or perhaps carrying us across it. All of which delivers us to the absolutely exquisite emote of David's voice "But when the night is over..." Chills every single time.

Personally I prefer as one song always played together in sequence Tales & The Magicians Birthday. I've never really got into Demons & Wizards like I did The Magicians Birthday & Very 'eavy Very 'umble. This takes till the 7th minute to take off now i've finally been able to listen to it all the way through. I must've kept taking it off before the guitar solo started lol I've got to say I do like this a lot better now & it does have the magical guitar of Mick Box so prominent on Magicians Birthday the song but it still doesn't take me to the spaces The Magician did.

WTF, pro tools came out about 40 yr ears after this album. I am not sure if 2 in was in use by the. I believe 16 or 24 track boards were the standered at that time. Whom ever did the remastering may gave used apple/Adobe products, personally, i like remasters that are anolog based. They sound natural, not aniceptic.

Yep back 1972, 1973, 1974 U.H. was on top of their game!!! Lots of stoned nites and lots of psychedelics to!!!! Starting in 1967 with the acid rock bands!!! :) :)

2" tape was in full use by '72, and you're right about the tracks. Even though most rock/pop studios were 16 track in that decade, the first 24 track was installed at TTG studios in LA in '68. If the tape was much narrower, it wouldn't have been very clean between tracks (crosstalk). Music tech went in leaps and bounds between '66 and '71 in particular, it's evident between records over those few short years :)

I don't know what Ken was smoking when he came up with this, but whatever it was he came up with maybe the most perfect moment of beauty the band ever had. At times it almost slips into Pink Floyd territory. You can keep Stairway to Heaven; this one never gets boring.

A friend and I saw them in Pittsburgh in 72 or 73. ZZ TOP opened for them. 30 yrs later my friend met Billy Gibbons and told him about the experience. Gibbons said before every show, Heep would gather and say " this is the one", I guess, meaning that they were always striving to put on the best show.

да могут нормально, в Араксе, Автографе и Ариэле были отличные музыканты, это пожалуй самые профессиональные советские рок-группы. Машина времени и Воскресенье еще. правда начинали они с каверов западной рок-музыки (как обычно)

I know David Byron's real name is Garrick, but you should not use it, as there is another English singer called David Garrick, who had some big Hits, among others :"Dear Mrs, Appelby" As for outstanding singers : from the early days I would mention ElvisPresley, Roy Orbison, Jay Black ( Jay and the Americans) Gary Pucket ( Union Gap) Bobby Hatfield ( Righteous Brothers) and more recent: Steve Perry ( Journey), Miljenko Mattyevic ( Stealheart) Joey Gioieli ( Axel Rudy Pell) Don Dokken and the one who can not be compared to any other singer : Robin Gibb
