I think Uriah Heep had a much bigger impact on music than what they are credited for. In the early eighties we had bands like Ultravox that had the same kind of melodies in their music and then we have all the power metal bands like Nightwish, Therion, Stratovarius, Rhapsody, Ayreon that I think are hugely influenced by them.

It was 2010. I was a security guard trying to save money to pay my way through college (got my BS in physics). So I did an orientation day with a background acting company in Burbank Los Angeles. I got there like 2 hours early, so I went to the nearby WalMart and bought a CD copy of Look At Yourself. I only did one episode of Disney’s Shake It Up in the background with Zendaya but looooved Uriah Heep ever since and saw them live twice since. Zendaya was nice but super snotty when I worked with her. So Look At Yourself is my favorite of their prog albums

When Scot says UH has been hugely popular in Eastern Europe, one thing is that the strong melodies are often in minor keys which fits like a glove to Eastern European cultures, but another thing is UH is also much more melodic and diverse than the biggest selling bands at that classic rock time who also were very bluesy. UH has (and Ken Hensley had aswell) personal relationships with fans (or fanclubs) in North Eastern Europe. It's a friendly casual environment for them among all the rock solid fans.

THE RETURN OF TARA! Now I can enjoy your live stream properly...it's only the band I detest. Uriah Heep recorded some decent music in their time but EVERY track was utterly ruined by that dreadful, abysmal, horrible singer. He was probably a thoroughly decent chap but (sigh) that voice! It's so monumentally annoying. The only worse vocalist is Freddie Mercury. I do enjoy Easy Living, Bron In A Trunk (that unreleased instrumental) and Look At Yourself. After that, his voice prevents me from liking anything else. Seven Stars would be groovy if it was sung by someone else, for example. Anyway, it was interesting to learn John Wetton was in the group for a while. The fellow is everywhere! Yesterday I discovered he was in Wishbone Ash for a while, too. Bejeezus, are there any British groups he didn't join?
