It'll be interesting to see if just getting blocking makes them truly better. Pickett & Pickens did incredibly well _despite_ this lack. But I don't think that *just* improving that on an offense is anything that has ever been done, so if it makes them a scoring threat, this can change how teams draft in the future. & if it doesn't, well 1) they learned from it & 2) next season they can draft star position players who can benefit from the added protection. If it fails though, whoo- _ee_ are the Steelers gonna play some low-scoring yawners.
@JonathanAuburn Жыл бұрын
@@choosecarefully408 As long as Harris and Warren (and Snell) remain a good RB tandem, it should work. Plus, I'm expecting Darnell Washington to make a decent impact. If he ends up being more productive than Zach Gentry, him and Freiermuth are going to be a fantastic TE pair. And yeah, if there ends up being another hole that pops up, that can easily (and I'm with you that I expect it to) be addressed in the next draft.

The only thing I can think of with RB pick is they wanted the ability to be able to run or pass with any player back there and not give away the play. Versatility could be the key to being a hot offense again. Some people were asking what it means for Rodriguez as per their LB selection? I wasn't certain on what those fans were meaning as I'd assume he would be playing alongside their 1st rounder.
@TheMattTrakker Жыл бұрын
@@Gungho73 It doesn't matter because you could have got him later. There is no way that anyone else was going to pick him in the next few picks, maybe not even in the first. Even if you like the player, the value at that draft position just doesn't make a lot of sense.

It’s a move that only a contender would make - but the lions truly believe that they are. Rightfully so imo. Faster version of Alvin Kamara As for Campbell @ 18, it’s a culture fit and fills a need in the middle of the defense. He earned a 92 grade in Zone coverage as well. Positional value wasn’t there, but you could easily swap Branch and Gibbs and then this draft is an A. If you get both guys regardless, then where they were picked isn’t important.

@@AutoArtemAuto 1) Claypool isn't good. 2) Do you know at what age men can shut out the panicky inner voice that screams about those Huge Linemen coming after you is? Somewhere around one's 23rd birthday. The NFL is doing a lot of potentially great QBs a disservice by thrusting them in to start before that point. Peyton Manning is a great example. His rookie season sucked, but at some point (around game 10 I think) he starts playing like the HOFer we all know & never looked back. He was closer to 23 than his 22nd birthday by that point. We saw Trevor Lawrence & Zach Wilson develop some bad habits because of this & my hope is that Fields will play differently now that he has what to work with _or_ they have coaches like Pederson who can help him unlearn them. Footage shows that he has missed many reads & open receivers, but the Bears gave up the most sacks, so it isn't necessarily a fully-developed Bad Habit yet. They now have Moore, Tyler Scott, Mooney, Kmet & Saint-Brown, as well as a running back who can catch & two more signed in free agency. I'd be *stunned* if they didn't try to trade Claypool. Either he has undiscovered talent in the slot or I don't know what, but he *doesn't get **_open_** much at all.*

Yes, there is definitely potential for greatness but people are acting like there isn't a huge deal of risk attached to these picks. Jalen Carter has a ton of red flags and while I like Nolan Smith he spent 4 years at Georgia and never took the next step as a pass rusher. Also regarding Jalen Carter people forget Howie Roseman is one of the few GMs who can get away with burning a top-10 pick on him. If Carter flames out then nothing happens to Howie because he's a made man. You can't say that for any other GM picking the top 10 other than maybe John Schneider for Seattle.

Smith seems similar to Leonard Floyd to me: can't do anything on his own, but can't be ignored with other threats on the line. It was a fine pick for their position in the draft. And now CJ Stroud looks to be the best quarterback while Young looks to be a bust so far
@Sageleader3 Жыл бұрын
I guess but Young didn't really get put in the best situation as the team around him is pretty shit not having WR1 sucks also. Also there last game was better

Arguably the best draft of any team this year. 4 rookies all popping off and making impacts. Can’t wait to see them grow.

Missed the mark a little on Richardson. Hopefully he comes back soon

Those two Texans picks are working out great so far. The team’s going through some growing pains but they are way more fun to watch than they’ve been in years past.

I was thrilled with what the Panthers ended up with. It’s been a while since an off-season inspired yknow actual hope and not just “well maybe it’ll be better” feelings

I understand why people think Bijan wasn't the best decision, but Terry and Arthur know what they're doing. They look past the X's and O's and have a plan on how to build a winning team. Plus, in today's NFL, you need two good running backs in order to have a consistently good running game. Bijan gets compared to LaDanian Tomlinson a lot, but he didn't work alone. He had another 1,000 yard back in Michael Turner as his running mate.
@ligmaemperor7064 Жыл бұрын
EXACTLY. Turner was also a short, thick back just like Allgeier is. If they can get a QB or develop Ridder, the Falcons can and will be a very sneaky team going forward.

People just casually forgetting the Packers rarely draft WR’s in the first round. Like Davante Adams was a second round pick, Jordy Nelson second round, Randall Cobb second round, Christian Watson from last year second round, Jayden Reed from this year’s draft also from the second round
@zennyspent Жыл бұрын
It's pretty much an annual tradition around here now. Day 2 for the Pack should silence at least some of the haters.
@6Snaus Жыл бұрын
Don't forget Greg Jennings. Plus James Jones was a third round pick, same with Jermichael Finley. The Packers have thrived on Day 2 with receivers and tight ends since the Ron Wolf era. Pass rush was also a massive, massive need and LVN will help shore that up immediately.
@zennyspent Жыл бұрын
@6Snaus I honestly think we wouldn't hear all the whining if they still had the second round on day one. Give a negative, doom-sayer fan 24 hours and an internet connection, though, and it's over. 😆
@chriskay1449 Жыл бұрын
@@6Snaus But not in the current GM's tenue. Gute has been abysmal drating offense and if not for Watson last year, he would be a complete bust at it. Watson was the first WR taken in the 2nd round in 9 years. YOu can't say the Packers have thrived on Day 2 with receivers when this GM only picked his first last season, 4 years into his tenure and 9 years since the previous 2nd rounder.
@6Snaus Жыл бұрын
@@chriskay1449 Gute has been in the front office and scouting department since the 1990s. He's definitely been a part of the decision making process for a long time, even if he wasn't the one making the final decision.

Steelers fan here. I love our picks. We are gonna come out strong this year
@6Snaus Жыл бұрын
Van Ness was a great pick. Outside of JSN there weren't any real superstar level receivers and even he is borderline at that level. I get that it's low hanging fruit to go after GB for not drafting receivers in the first round but they drafted 6 skill position guys this year to build with Love, Watson, Doubs, Jones, and Dillon. This was easily a home run draft for the Packers, as good if not better than your beloved Steelers.

"The NFL knows how to put on a good show" I happened to be in KC the draft weekend and got to see a good part of the day 2 fan fest and some of the picks. It was laid out to where it did not feel packed at the site, but neighboring areas was a bitch to get in and out of via Uber.
