October 2019: You made the playoffs? Wow, what a turnaround! Just beat the Brewers and you’re in the NLDS. NL Wild Card Game: Oh great, Scherzer is choking in the 1st inning and now you’re down 4-1 in the 8th... wait, you came back and won? Well, you have to face the Dodgers now, so good luck. NLDS: YOU WON A PLAYOFF SERIES! In heart stopping fashion too. Hopefully the hangover doesn’t last too long before you face the Cardinals. NLCS: YOU DID IT. You’re FINALLY going to the World Series. Those arrogant Astros already got their title. All you need to do to end the Legacy of Failure is to GET IT DONE. Games 1-2: You won both of the first two games in Houston! Full speed ahead at home boys! Games 3-6 I... have no words. YOU BLEW ALL OF YOUR HOME GAMES!? How the hell do you expect to beat the Astros again on the road... wait, you won Game 6? And have Scherzer pitching Game 7? Wow, you have a legit shot. Just get it done boys. Game 7: It’s official. The Legacy of Failure is OVER. Jaybird the television viewership dropped because they lost the rights to broadcast in the biggest TV market in Canada to the blue jays. They only had the exclusive rights to Quebec really. Combine that with the blue jays getting good in the mid-80s as the expos started to get to shit and you have a recipe for the team getting fucked. They couldn’t get much sponsors or much revenue from Television. And also, blaming the expos being moved on the “lack of fan support” is ignoring the huge problems they had with blatant mismanagement and the fact that even when they were good, the MLBs playoff system historically fucked them over and hard. The lowering fan attendance was most likely a byproduct of it, as no one wants to spend the to see a failing baseball team and not many people enjoy spending the money to see their favorite team lose.

You had this series practically in your fucking hands and you let them win all 3 in D.C? Call off the celebrations. World Series game 6: Yeah, you won this game, but you still have to play the Astros AGAIN in Houston. Good luck Early World Series game 7: Greinke is dominating your batting and the Astros have a 2-0 lead. The legacy of failure continues. Late World Series game 7: Yeah, Greinke gave up a run, but he won't do it again with the way he's been playing. Wait, what? They're taking him out after barely even 70 pitches? You might still have a chance. Late World Series game 7 (continued): Thanks to A.J Hinch, Roberto Osuna and Will Harris's ineptitude, you now have the lead. Just try not to fuck this up. Late World Series game 7 (continued): It's the bottom of the 9th and you have a 4 point lead. It still wouldn't surprise me if you blew it. *Shows video of final out in Game 7* Am I supposed to be impressed or something? You know how many times you should've been here and utterly blew it? Too many to count. This isn't a moment where I say "Good for you!" It's a moment where I say "It's about damn time!"

... 2019 NLCS: 4-0 series sweep against the Cardinals
@UHOH_4155 жыл бұрын
The Offseason: Bryce Harper fucks off after you wasted his tenure. He goes to Philly for 13 years. Have fun Washington. April 2019: You Boo Bryce Harper in his return. He ends up pimping a massive homer to right centerfield, and gives us a memorable bat flip. Nationals fans ghost after that. May 2019: you are terrible. 19-31, Bullpen has an ERA over 7, and names like Rendon and Mad Max are rumored to be traded. It’s not looking good Washington. June 1st-All Star Break: You wake up and go 20-8 and are back in Playoff contention. Good Work boys. Second Half: You play great baseball, and clinch home field in the Wild Card game. Anthony Rendon put together an MVP Season, Steven Strausburg pitches like a god, Patrick Corbin is making you look good, Mad Max isn’t the same as he came back from the IL, but it’s Mad Max, your bullpen is not bad, Juan Soto put together a solid season, and you made a comeback from being 10-4 down to the Mets. Hopefully you can win a playoff game. 2019 Wild Card Game: Not a good start. The Brewers got three runs off Mad Max. Yasmani Grandal, & Eric Thames hit homers and the Brewers are shutting down the bats. Might as well fold and wait the inevitable. 8th Inning: You start a rally against the untouchable Josh Hader. Bases Loaded for Juan Soto. What does he do? He drives in all the runs, with an assist by Trent Grisham. You’re up. 9th Inning: You hold the lead and win a playoff game. Bad News though, you are facing the Dodgers. Not good. NLDS Game 1: Yikes. You get Shut Out by the Dodgers Juggernaut. Walker Buehler pitches a gem as Joc Pederson pimps one that would have landed in DC if the foul pole wasn’t there. Let’s see if you bounce back. Game 2: You indeed bounce back. You Jump all over Clayton Kershaw and win a close game 2. 1-1 back to DC. Get it done. Game 3: Strong Start. Nice. Juan Soto hits a 2 run Homer off Ryu, and Anibal Sanchez is pitching like a god. Maybe you can pull this off. 6th Inning: Yeah. That Inning. 7 runs off the Bullpen. Why did Davey Martinez bring in Patrick Corbin when Sanchez was dealing? let’s see what’s else is going on in the world...wait, why was there a DQ Inside Hell In A Cell? What do you mean Rollins went too far? Game 4: Your Down 1-0 after one inning. It’s happening isn’t it? Wait hold on, you blow out the Dodgers and push it to game 5. Mad Max pitches a gem, and you have the momentum. Bad News though, you’re facing Walker Buehler. You counter with Strausburg though. Game 5: Oh boy. Down 3-0, and Walker Buehler is dealing. Well great season boys. 7th Inning: You get Buehler out of the game. Dave Roberts brings in... Clayton Kershaw. Maybe there is a chance. 8th Inning: Kershaw goes full Kershaw and gives up Back to Back homers to Rendon and Soto... On back to back pitches. The hope is back. 10th Inning: HOWIE FUCKING KENDRICK. He redeems himself with a Grand Slam to put the game away, and the Dodgers hopes for a World Series. End of Game 5: Congrats Nats! You have done it. You won your first ever playoff series. And you did it against the Dodgers juggernaut. Everyone, point and laugh at the frauds that is the Dodgers. 😂 NLCS Game 1: Anibal Sanchez pitches another gem, matter of fact he almost pitches a No Hitter against the Cards. You win Game 1. NLCS Game 2: Mad Max Also pitches well. Also has a No Hitter in tact. You win Game 2, and head back home up 2-0. There is a chance you can clinch the Pennant at home. NLCS Game 3: You blow out the Cardinals, and are up 3-0. You could do this. You can clinch the pennant in 4 games. NLCS Game 4: This is it. You can clinch your first NL Pennant in franchise history. Do it. Make Bryce Harper eat a bag of shit. 1st Inning: You got two runs in the first. You might do this. the Cardinals forget how to defend. 3-0 Nats. Wait scratch that, it's 5-0 Nats. Wait, it's 7-0 Nats. 5th Inning: Patrick Corbin gives up 4 runs, but gets out of a tough situation. Hope your pen can finish it off End of Game 4: You did it. You made the World Series. You swept the Cardinals. 4 more wins and it erases all of the failures as the Expos, the mid to late 2000’s, The Postseason Failure in this decade, and most importantly, stick it to Bryce Harper and the Phillies by winning the World Series in the first year without Harper. Get it done. ALCS Game 6: Jose Altuve hits a Walk Off Clinching Home Run and Houston will be your opponent. Good God those Pitching Matchups will be 🔥🔥🔥 World Series Game 1: You are down 2-0 early, but you Score 5 runs off the Untouchable Gerrit Cole and Steal Game 1. Juan Soto has himself a game, and the Original National goes deep. Nice Win. Game 2: It’s another pitching classic between two of the best. They got off to rough starts but have settled in. It might come down to whoever scores first. 7th Inning: My Goodness. Kurt Suzuki starts the beatdown. He hits a long homer off Verlander and you score 6 unanswered runs. You’re up 8-2. You might beat Cole & Verlander. Get it done. End of Game 2: You blow out Houston. 12-3. You’re up 2-0 heading back home. It’s been over 80 years since the World Series has been in our nations capital. Anibal Sanchez is going for you. I expect a good game. Game 3: Zack Grienke, and the Astros bullpen Shut down the Bats, and Houston is on the board in the series. Good thing for you is that you have Patrick Corbin going in game 4, while Houston is gonna use their bullpen. This is a golden opportunity to take a 3-1 lead in the series and push the Astros to the brink of Elimination and win your first ever Championship. Game 4: And it looks like you’re gonna take the piss. Alex Bregman hits a massive Grand Slam off of Fernando Rodney in the 7th inning. Yep, this is probably gonna be a 2-2 tie heading into Game 5. Good News Though, you have Max Scherzer going. Bad News, you’re going against Gerrit Cole. Game 5: Looks like Max Scherzer is out. Joe Ross is in. He allows two homers, the Umpires make some stupid ass calls, and George Springer hits a dagger in the Ninth. You’re going back down 3-2. It’s all on Strausburg, let’s see how he responds. Game 6: A Back and fourth affair is happening. You Score one in the first, Houston responds with two. Alex Bregman pimps a Homer and gives the bat to the first base coach. You respond with home runs by Adam Eaton and Juan Soto in the fifth, and Soto responds to Bregman. I expect a good finish 7th inning: What the Fuck is Going On? Why did they call Trea Turner out on a bogus interference call? These Fucking Umpires man. Wait hold on, Anthony Rendon pimps a Homer. All of that bullshit is forgotten. Game 7: Yuli Gurriel gets one off Max Scherzer, Carlos Correa follows suit in the 5th. Zack Grienke is looking untouchable. Not Good. 7th Inning: Anthony Rendon gets one off Grienke and he's taken out. Howie Kendrick steps up. Let's see what he does..... HOLY FUCKING SHIT. HE DID IT AGAIN. HOWIE FUCKING KENDRICK COMES UP CLUTCH, AND YOU'RE UP 3-2. Can you break the LOF? End of Game 7: It’s Over. You Broke the Legacy of Failure. It was pretty fast too. You have gone from nearly firing Dave Martinez to the top of the baseball mountain.

This is an old and stupid take. The point was to protect his arm so that he'll be productive for the remainder of his contract, period. Look at what happened to Matt Harvey after he went beyond his limit in 2015. Look at what happened Kris Medlen and Brandon Beachy of the Braves. Both superior pitchers before the Braves dogged their arms and ended up needing second TJ surgeries. Never heard much from them after that. Even MLB analysts who disagreed with it were backpedaling over the years from their initial reaction in '12. And finally- if you were truly rooting for the Nats, you would've remembered that Stras lost steam towards the end of the season and was the least effective out the entire rotation. The media members who made a big deal out of it were just really looking for something to talk about.
