Never been to a urologist, but I've needed to pee in a cup for a UTI test and a drug test (for a job). For both I drank so much water and all the liquids I knew that make you have to go, but couldn't. With a UTI you're kinda always going, but my body went "nope too much pressure" and made me sit there like a loser. Doctor wrote "shy bladder" on my sheet for the drug test, like sorry I can't pee when you're hovering outside the door. Drug test was fine, no drug found, but as you know "trust me bro" isn't a thing a factory wants. And I did have a UTI and was lectured about holding it for too long.

Also sometimes red could mean your period blood and pee mix (it happens to me sometimes, I know this because I see little blood clots in my pee!) so if you are worried you have a UTI (as a not pregnant woman) then you are good, it’s most likely you just got your period. But if you are pregnant or have never got your period, talk to a parent. If this is a huge issue talk to a doctor right away.

Red can also be porphyria! Its quite rare to actually see the red urine, but its supposedly a very characteristic red. The condition is quite rare and can be debilitating depending on what type someone has, and you'd probably have some idea if you had it.

Don't forget about the concentration that the said pee is in. For example she gave us demonstrations in a cup, so she was referring to pee in a cup not in a toilet. This is because then the pee isn't concentrated and gets diluted due to the water. In short even if your pee appears clear in the toilet that isn't an accurate representation and if you want to truly know the color then you have to pee in a cup and I guarantee it will be darker.

Clear urine in a toilet bowl is ok because it's being diluted by the water from the bowl and probably was a light yellow if collected in a cup. If the urine is in a cup and it's as clear as water that's not ok. You're over hydrated and putting extra stress on your kidneys plus messing up your electrolytes and can actually die from that.

From vitamin B2, also known as riboflavin, which is found in most multivitamins. The neon color in pee is just a harmless sign that you're taking more than your body needs, and the excess is mixing with your pee. It's pretty scary if you don't know

A lot of doctors have said the normal color is not clear due to urine begin 90% water and 10% acid and the normal color is not really yellow but so the color of hay that’s a normal urine color. Red urine doesn’t always mean you have kidney stones cause if you did then you won’t be able to urinate well or properly, red urine mostly means internal bleed has occurred, drinking a lot of liquids or juices that are red, and sometimes could be just an infection

Reminder that urine that appears completely clear in the toilet will still be pale yellow when it is undiluted with toilet water, for example in a urine cup.
