awesome video. is it harder to take care of a uromastyx than a bearded dragon and a gecko??? or is it about the same???
@ChiefSweetsUniverse8 ай бұрын
I think it’s honestly the same but it depends lots of uromastyx are wild caught. The wildcaught are the hard ones to take care of. The captive ones are so easy. Maybe the easiest out of all

Im teying to find your discord! Im trying to reach out for some heating bulb heat regulation in my 4x2x2 followed all ur instructions buttt i cant seem to get the cool side hot enough my hot side is at 93-96 cold side 75 and my beardie will go lay on the cold side and then fall asleep because shes so cold to the touch its been making her very lazy and shes been such an active beardie before the tank switch from a 40 gallon. PLEASEEE RESPOND 🥲
@ChiefSweetsUniverse8 ай бұрын
Hello my discord is in the description of the video. You could use a deep heat projector on the cool side to boost up some air temps
@sandyolson56533 ай бұрын
I have seen others bake rocks and subterranean to kill bacteria. How important is it to do this? I followed your instructions on the mix and have it all set up to transfer my uro to a bigger tank but now I’m worried about exposure to new bacteria and a new environment. Previously, I only used a mix of sand and coconut husk(?) bought from the pet store. Thank you!
@ChiefSweetsUniverse3 ай бұрын
Definitely do not bake rocks as they can explode like a grenade when baked. You can wash the rocks and you can bake the tree limbs but I just rinse off everything myself

Hey, we just purchased a 4x2x2 for our son's uromastyx. I think we will get the Arcadia PRO t5 14% UVB bulb. What length do you recommend for a 4x2x2? I'm seeing 24", 36" or 48." Does that UVB primarily sit on the hotter/basking side? Or is it best to let it span the distance of the tank into the cooler side as well? We notice on the cooler side, the air temps are at 88 degrees and the humidity is 34%. On the basking side, the humidity is 25% and the air temp is 98 degrees when not directly in the basking spot. I'll need get a thermometer to check the specific basking spot temp, but know it is warmer. Is the 34% humidity on the cooler side concerning? ...Lots of questions! Thanks for the recommendations!
@ChiefSweetsUniverse5 ай бұрын
For a 4x2x2 a 24 inch one is fine and it does stay on the hot side as well. You can join the discord or message me on Instagram if you want to ask more questions

I wouldn't use glass as they like to club the walls and surf alot i personally started all mine off in 4x2x2 to make it safer as well alot less stressful on them. Also be extremely careful with sand and repti soil as it can cause impaction uros lick everything lol including your hands
@ChiefSweetsUniverse2 ай бұрын
Yeah I started lots of mine off in 4x2x2s as well but for most newbs they always get these so since it’s the most popular one I help people with I actually never see anyone who first gets one have a 4x2x2 usually get it then they realize they need a 4x2x2 but this can be upscaled to a 4x2x2 easy just do the same thing. Sand and reptisoil is only an issue if you have improper care. I have over 20 uromastyx and have kept babies who hatched from eggs to adulthood on substrate no issue. When they lick it’s just to see what the environment is not an eating type of lick. So no worries there unless you have really bad care impaction is pretty rare.

I'm getting a uromastyx and it's my first reptile. I got the Eco Earth substrate which the pet store said would be good but I keep seeing mixed reviews. Also my thermometer gives me reads of 91F but how do I get the basking area hotter?
@ChiefSweetsUniverse7 ай бұрын
No eco earth sucks get rid of it. I would use sand mixed with reptisoil or top soil. Not calcium sand as well. Reptisand or play sand. Is the thermometer reading 91f or the temp gun pointing at the basking spot? If it’s basking spot temp with temp gun readings use two heat lamps 100-150watt make sure not to get too hot. Basking spot shouldn’t be above 130f

@cherylj746019 күн бұрын
Occasionally, we have days and days of cloud coverage. I’m sure rest from the sun, like cooler night temps, can be good for animals. It’s normal. But there are some cloudy times when the temp is a bit low too and I know my lizards are searching for a warm, bright spot- so I keep a light on hand for this. Even if I only use it occasionally. That way I know their food is digesting too.
