patreon.com/ch... I demonstrate how the CS12 Control Surface is very different from Mackie MCU style and even AVID's S series Eucon Control Surfaces

Thanks for doing that demo. This is pretty much the controller I have been waiting for

I’m working on another video, Thx. I am working on another video, hopefully shorter, to demonstrate the learn mode and the Nektarine application application, which allows for deep mapping of plug-ins. (custom pages)

THIS IS A WINNER FOR CONTROLLING SOFT SYNTHS:))

I like it.. What I wish they would have done was put a higher end led screen. That screen is like 2010 quality. Also maybe a more premium chassis. Other than that based off of everyones review it looks like a great Logic control surface. Great deep dive.
@richie6943 ай бұрын
Great review - this control surface looks the best out there for Logic ! Does it automatically map to the controls within alchemy? Both the simple and and the advanced controls? If not can the knobs be mapped manually - and if yes is this easy to do? I need more than just one fader control (mapped to software controls) as may want to change more than one control in Alchemy at the same time. Thanks

I just got one of these. The thing I’d most like to discover is how I can assign previous and next preset buttons to the unit. Thanks for the video.
@chevaliermusic5 ай бұрын
Most plug-ins don’t allow automation of a next or previous preset button, if the plug-in itself allows that control to be automated it can be assigned to a button, but again most do not.

Waiting for it to start. I'm still using keyboard shortcuts mostly because keyboard is closer. Think it will be a major for plugin control
@chevaliermusic6 ай бұрын
It's still processing in 'premiere' mode. It should become available shortly. This is a very different control surface. I've used almost every brand and cost of device available.

This is by far the best tutorial for CS12. The documentation from nektartech is really bad.
@nigeldarrah45735 ай бұрын
Yeah, I’ve been waiting since February for mine. They claim it’s out, and didn’t communicate any delays until I reached out to nektar. They just shrugged and gave me the runaround with no indication on when it’ll be available. Not a great start..
@bmsmusician4 ай бұрын
You don't feel that your eyes have to jump back and forth between the nectar display and the knobs?
@62tunes5 ай бұрын
Maurice, as you click through the pages you have mapped for the Automaton, the corresponding function buttons in the plugin-in do not follow. Is that mappable?
@chevaliermusic5 ай бұрын
As you click through pages you have mapped, you will see the buttons or parameters you have mapped. This functionality is chosen by you, per your preferences. Whatever controls you want to see on a page from any part of the plug-in can be added on any page.

Great ! May be i miss something but is there a "select mode" when you are using a midi instrument ?

It’s the same mode.

Can anyone tell me if this has bluetooth connectivity? I want to replace a model 12 I dont need with this. But i need to stream music through studio speakers.
@chevaliermusic5 ай бұрын
This is not a mixer or interface. It does not pass audio.And it does not offer a Bluetooth connectivity only USB.

Can you create custom mapping without installing wrappers ?
@chevaliermusic5 ай бұрын
Yes. By holding the shift key and touching the data knob, you enter learn mode. You can then assign custom parameters to each of the rotary encoders and buttons. There is a separate Nektarine plug-in, which you can use also to create custom pages, but you don’t use that plug-in when you’re actually using your custom mappings. The plug-ins load as normal. I used the Nektarine app/plugin to program the last plugin I show in the video - RC 20. But as you can see in the video, I loaded the RC 20 normally to show it in the video.
@eliaszerano35105 ай бұрын
I would love to have a unit with just that one fader learn section, I don't need theses rotary encoders
@chevaliermusic5 ай бұрын
The rotary encoders are what make the device great. Icon actually makes a one fader device that offers the focus control. SSL does as well. But neither the level of control for plug-in manipulation that the C1S2 offers

can you map the push buttons to logic keyboard shortcuts ?
@chevaliermusic5 ай бұрын
Nope. They’re for plugin functions. But maybe Nektar will create an update that allows extra controls to be added to the marker buttons. They’ve been making many changes to this device since January.
@62tunes5 ай бұрын
@@chevaliermusic Waiting for delivery of mine for almost a month now. My guess is there is a big demand. I do hope they will make the count button and the tempo and zoom dials assignable. These would make good in and out level level knobs for all plug-ins. What would you put under the count button, Maurice? Like your video. Clear remarks, experienced perpective, honest enthousiasm.
@chevaliermusic5 ай бұрын
Update, Nektar let me know that you can actually map logic functions directly to the marker buttons. It just needs to be in marker mode when you do so.
@62tunes5 ай бұрын
@@chevaliermusicThanks. Do you mean both reassigning and operating them in marker mode? I’m looking for more than a toggle option. I have the SSL controller trio, they already cover a lot of ground. The CS12 will be my plug-in specialist. I want as much basic plug-in functions as I can on that surface WITHOUT having to toggle modes, like shift or marker. A controller should be like a piano. One key, one function. That’s how we learn to operate it on touch. I wouldn’t want to be looking down all the time checking what mode I’m in - is the marker button off as I remember it to be? Oh it’s lit. Well hit it, then hit the magnifier. Ten minutes later: hey why is the plug-in redo button not working? Wait I’m not in marker mode. That’s how control surfaces get an early retirement, I suppose. My options are limited but reassigning the count button is first on the list.

They shouldn’t have to cannibalize themselves For instrument control, they have their panorama P1 with nektarine interface, their panorama keyboards with nektarine interface, and Aruba From a business sense, it would hurt them to make a channel strip controller also an instrument controller
@DavidLToliver4 ай бұрын
So I finally got the PCS12. But I wish someone would show how to map instruments from start to end. That's seems very hard to understand and no one is showing how it's done. Even the manual is hard to understand how to do it.

I wanted it to be raw. If you want to see scripted videos, there’s plenty made for this device and others - my channel will never be scripted. Thanks for watching.

I like the off the cuffness, @chevaliermusic. It’s a good a way to present your take on a product. It’s refreshing to watch a reviewer on YT without hyperactive handgestures, loud voice overs and keep-them-glued-to-their-screen jokes.
