I hope you do more. It is immensely impressive. I master in 8K and down sample the delivery. It’s simple enough to future proof your product now. I love the high frame rates and would definitely use this more affordable camera than the V Raptor.

what the heck, was the room quiet or the noise isolation in post was done perfectly. You were speaking in such a mild and calm tone whereas all the others were screaming in their videos

😂😂 yeah we were in the press area and it was really chill back there. Plus a little noise isolation and 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻

I hope smallrig, tilta or some other accessory company make a right side handle similar to the komodo outrigger handle for it. I'd like to run it as bare bones as I possibly can, so the fact that there is (seemingly) no way to mount a handle onto the right hand side because of the new screen is one of my few reservations. This is definitely my dream camera though in terms of resolution flexibility, frame rates, braw being so easy to work with, and the pure magic that is BM color science. Can't wait to get my hands on one!

There are rosettes on the mount underneath for a shoulder rig arrangement but even without a battery this camera is 6 pounds heavier than a Komodo X, plus a 24v B-mount battery, and a lens. Most rigs for this camera will start at more than 13 or 14 pounds and go up from there. You won’t be swinging this camera around hand held the way you can a Komodo. It will always need to be supported by sticks or shoulder or steadicam or the like.
@di2ifter7 ай бұрын
@@waveland I'm aware it will always need some form of support. I run all my current rigs with a cinesaddle so I'll definitely do the same for this. If I need to keep the baseplate underneath just to attach a rosette handle that's fine too. I'm sure I'll experiment with a few different configurations before I settle on something that works for me.

I use a cheese plate for accessories where the new second monitor is for my UMP4.6k build. This doesn't seem like it has many mounting options for additional accessories. I'm curious if the top handle mechanism is the same as the Ursa Mini Pro 4.6k so I can add my top handle that has many mounting points. Does anyone know if the top handle attachment is the same?

How can this camera be genlocked
@billyoung95387 ай бұрын
By providing the signal to the SDI/BNC REF IN/TC IN port, and selecting reference as the source in the settings.
@waveland7 ай бұрын
I didn’t realize the camera had so many USB-C ports hidden along the top of the body. Begs the question, what else do they have in store? Although in a busy and sometimes hectic set environment I’m not sure I would want to depend on so many non-locking power connections. The sensor is awesome, but for larger set environments the ports and accessories support is more like worst in class. Just look at a Venice 2 which has 4 SDI outputs, plus a monitor BNC, plus timecode in, a separate Genlock connector, and then a timecode pass through out. And those SDI connections can have different information displayed on each feed for different departments. Compare that with the 12K which provides two SDI connections. It’s still not a big budget, big set camera. Very cool, and very useful for some applications but still underwhelming on the practical side. After all, what focus puller is glued to the side of the camera these days except in a pinch. They are running wireless so they can watch the action more closely and react in a more fluid way. In which case they want a dedicated feed from the camera, not an immovable screen on the side.

The very fact your are even comparing this new BM Ursa 12K to a Sony Venice 2 says everything, lol.

Oh dang, I guess this means the Alexa35 isn't up to the task of big productions ether...

You underestimate the capabilities of the 10G Ethernet connection on this camera
@waveland6 ай бұрын
@@RonCoy It’s not entirely clear to me how much data the camera can process while filming, but if they can push out a 4k feed via 2110 protocol when the camera is rolling, then the distribution options are nearly limitless. The writeup on the website talks about live-streaming off the camera (a partial solution) and using 10G to upload clips to the cloud but not more than that. Let’s see what else they have to say after the official release.
@RonCoy6 ай бұрын
@@waveland they’ve already said that all their cameras are 2110 capable. I’m sure this one will be able to output 4K over 2110. They’re using an open protocol to slightly compress 12G SDI to 10G, and 12G SDI can handle 4K. With that being the case, I can’t see why this camera wouldn’t have that capability.

If BM made the BOX camera with this sensor and priced less than $10,000 they would have taken away RED / Venice's lunch, dinner and sleep

Just give us this sensor in 8k , 120fps , Braw + prores under 10,000 🎉
@billyoung95387 ай бұрын
Given the current sensor can currently do 8k 144FPS open gate with BRAW, and the only way one will ever get Prores off these newer Blackmagic cameras is with an external recorder due mostly to some issues and limitations with Prores itself that do not exist with BRAW not the least of which is the file sizes can be significantly smaller than Prores. What is being asked for, outside of a potential price drop, will likely never happen.
