The only reason why Europe has many different winners of world cups is becuz they've got 13 qualifying teams in world cups while South America inequitably gets only 4 or 5.. The US pot 1 as hosts and Brazil pot 1 as the best ranked other team. If it was based purely on rankings. The US would still have been pot 1 (Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, USA). Mexico would have been pot 2.

If it was purely on rankings, 6 SA teams were ranked 1-13 in 2016, Mexico/USA were 22/32. There’s no reason to arbitrarily change the criteria for seeding except for that reason. It’s embarrassing that their players are so talentless Conmebol has to rig the draw or they’ll lose in the groups. They should’ve gotten Arg/Bra/Chi who were strongest then. Anyway you have my prediction that the USA will NOT advance further than Canada at Copa America 2024, Despite having home field advantage throughout.
