Thanks for posting this. In 68-70 My bro,his wife and I ,spent many a Sunday at this track. GREAT MEMORIES! And you said it right Irv,this is when Drag Racing was FUN!!

There are a a ton more of these, but it is so expensive to convert them that we'll probably never see them. I was in possession of the remaining tapes and I tried to send them around to every video producer in the U.S. including the big shops in the Hollywood area. They could hear them but not see them. I sent them all back to the Chicagoland area. I think they were able to find someone to make one more DVD, but then they were done. As always, folks think they are going to make a million dollars off this stuff...

Back in early 80s I lived about 5 miles away at rt. 55 and 330 in Merrillville...... fri and sat nights you could hear the roar and the anouncer

I was there the last year before they closed and I ran a 12:05 in my nitrous injected 355CI SBC in a 1967 Chevelle! GREAT TIMES WHERE THE GREAT ONES RAN!! I used to work at KINGS SPEED SHOP in the late 80s

@@tonywalker2334 yes, i worked at King Speed Shop in Lansing Illinois back in the late 80s to early 90s, I used drive the Kingray Corvette out of the building every morning and make a run down the frontage road off of I-80! Fun times

@@BIGTONY2132001 as a kid who went to School in the 80’s the school bus would pass Kings Corvettes as I remember it. I would always look over to see cool cars there. What ever happened to the owner. I remember the building becoming a Volvo shop of some type.

@@tonywalker2334 The owner Bud passed away and Ron Jordan had taken over, King speed shop I believe it closed in the late 90s?? Ron passed away a few years ago. Bob, Buds brother was a bodyman while I was working there. It is now Flikkama Saab. Funny how we remember things that fascinated us as kids!! I've been a mechanic for 42 years now, I still love cars!

Bud Heinman(sp) raced a King Speed Shop 30's coupe called 'The Judge' if I'm not mistaken. Bud had a wicked Svengali look about him. A cool serious driver.

Wow....Bob just rolled his 67 cuda Hemi Under Glass with Jay Leno in the passenger seat caught on camera June of 2016 and just wow.....that was crazy....glad no one was hurt but the car was trashed...!!

Merrillville is the town, not Gary. I grew up 5m SE of there. It was awesome being able to hear from the house. Hobart has since annexed it and industrial buildings are going up.😢
