Zaluzhny is subordinate to the President. Military history is littered with rogue generals who believe their way is the only way. Poroshenko is an ordinary citizen and must abide by the laws with no special treatment. Poroshenko has a dubious past and cannot be trusted. Reports fail to recognise the power and expertise of Russian propaganda and its ability to infiltrate all levels of the government and media internationally. One must remain skeptical about reports and how they play into Russia's narrative.

A fascinating guest whose preference for extended and in-depth story-telling makes her not only a most unusual correspondent, but a very necessary eyewitness to the developing history of this conflict. Personal insight in reporting is what touches an audience's heart. This is what we look for when we try to understand what is happening to everyday people whose story never makes it to a headline. Nah. As incompetent as our government is, this is still a bipartisan issue and will get resolved. It’s like everyone panicking about the government shutdown last month. Once there’s a countdown, everyone starts to freak out… and then because everyone’s freaking out, it gets done. Our government is like a college student writing a paper. We might all get stressed over it, but they’re waiting until just before the deadline like everyone else.

the crazy stuff is that, who will pay all of this aid? Ukraine cannot if loose. Europe will tackle same issue. but at the other side they will go partying in Bejing, Teheran and Moscow. If Ukraine cannot win maybe the West has to be clear, with clear public statement and admit defeat and shame. If Ukraine maybe win then the West has to finish the job instead undermining the effort every single time.

Ukraine Pravda reported that when Lloyd Austin visited Kyiv on Nov. 20th , one of the things they asked him for was "...17 million (that's right--MILLION) 155mm artillery shells" to be able to reach the Sea of Azov. They said he was very surprised as there are not that many shells on the earth to collect and he told them it is "impossible". AFU estimates they will need $350-400 BILLION to "restore borders to 1991 level".

Seems perfectly reasonable to me. US spent 20 TRILLION fighting in Afghanistan and got nothing but defeat for their efforts - the Taliban are back stronger than ever and now run the entire country. So far, for their money, the US has got 300,000+ dead and wounded Russians, half their tanks destroyed at least. The Russians are using T55's!!! on the battlefield now. For their money of around 100 billion, that's 1/20 of what they spent in Afghanistan, the US has achieved the most significant degradation of Russian forces since WW2 and has largely removed the Russian threat to NATO in the east of Europe.

Oh, those glorious Ukrainian night trains! I remember them so clearly from a holiday in 2012. Climbing up the steps from the low platforms was almost adventurous in itself. The corridors had carpets looking like Persian rugs. The trains were old but so comfortable, slow but bang on time. The male staff were wearing gigantic caps, almost like UFOs on their heads, and the female staff had pencil skirts so tight that they could only walk from the knees down. I vividly recall rumbling over the now destroyed Dnipro bridge on the Sevastopol express where ZSU are now trying to establish a bridgehead. Glory to Ukrzaliznytsia.

@@emildavidsen1404 Please name a single European country that has matched US defense spending as a percentage of GDP. I certainly want the USA to do more, but it is extremely obvious that Europe has relied on the US taxpayers to defend them. 300k shells? The USA has already donated 7 times as many.

Russia has a lot of gold reserves . This will be used to pay for the reconstruction. USA has the military and money to bleed Russia . Russia can’t sustain long term. Vietnam is getting all new investment, China is panicking . It can’t support Russia
