Funny how things have changed with Americans, I still remember back in the 80s and early 90s when Japan was seen as a huge economical threat to the United States, especially the U.S. auto industry and U.S. electronics industry. Back then it was an era of "Japan bashing".

Back in the days when American car companies kept telling everybody to make a reliable car you need to build it out of expensive high quality components and reliable cars are always going to be the most expensive cars. When Japan proved them wrong with that ONE car, they almost put the entire American auto industry out of business. At that time American cars didnt even both putting odometers that go above 99,999 miles and here was a new Japanese car with an odometer that goes to 999,999 miles and it was a cheaper car than anything they had on the market. There were only a few companies that accepted it was possible to make a cheap reliable car and those companies went and tore that Japanese import apart to figure out how they did it, and what they found blew their minds... For the most part, they are the only American car companies that survived, the others had their brands gobbled up. There is a great documentary out there about it.

Nobody should forget history. Please make a list of the atrocities committed by the chinese in Tibet and against many other people over the years. The chinese have done horrible things to others and themselves over the years. Nobody, least of all I, will forget or ignore the brutality or the Japanese Imperial Army in the WW2. This is a fact, even though I distrust the numbers you offer. The point is that historical war crimes does NOT correctly describe or understand a nation or it’s peoples so many years after the occasion. Modern Germans have no more guilt for war guards in concentration camps did during the WW2 than you and I. They just don’t. To make false moral equivalence based on history is of course, without value. The only reason you see endless tv shows about japanese invaders in China, is to divert attention from the many crimes and atrocities CURRENTLY being carried out against minorities in China. The chinese have very little to be proud about.

Here's the problem: the current policy is about zero sum game (a chess game in his metaphore) instead of reaching out for everyone including China to find a way to cooperate, so that the borders would become less important. The entire free market idea is that free trade leads to piece. But when China prospers, market gets replaced with decade long anti-China propaganda and trade war.
@GP-qz6kk3 ай бұрын
I do think it should be stated, and more publicly proposed, that cooperation is the ultimate desired outcome. But the criticism is valid. How do u start to negotiate and cool tensions while they refuse to end corp espionage and IP theft. Also, w Taiwan and other neighbors under constant threat. These are very serious issues. I would love to see the possibilities if the US and China (and Russia) could get to a point of working together, tho. I think the world could leap forward in progress for all. Unfortunately, the trends seem to be going in the wrong direction.
@user-lj3ih3bb8d3 ай бұрын
@@GP-qz6kk Taiwan is legally a part of China. The USA formally has never admitted it to be an independent state. Yet, there has been no proof of Chinese intention to attack Taiwan before the Pelosi provocation. And now America is effectively arming Taiwan, which is legally arming a part of China against mainland. At the same time, war over Taiwan is not in Chinese interest. Chinese do not want any blood, and they are ok waiting for another hundred years for piecefull reunification. Anyone who has ever taken time to learn about China knows that. So, effectively, the only real reason for tensions around Taiwan is the American provocations. Yes, espionage is bad. But the policy of technological limitations on China is equally bad and is actually insentivising China to ramp up the espionage efforts. Developing a military alliance around China will not bring piece and good will. It will lead to the same results the NATO enlargement and American withdrawal from the Balistic Missile Treaty brought Europe to. The same zero sum game policy: just doing this aggressive stuff, instead of conducting multilateral negotiations with NATO countries and Russia to find mutually exceptable formula (for example, NATO get to enlarge, while providing Russia with specific written guarantees). In China's case it is making military alliances, instead of conducting multilateral talks betweeb China, Japan, Korea, USA, Vietnam, India, and many other regional powers.

I can’t imagine the Japanese even tolerate this guy, given his propensity for rudeness. That’s why he lost his job as Obama’s press secretary!

Too bad Taiwan can't be part of this alliance. This is a major missing link, and that's exactly why China has to take control of Taiwan.

Thank you to Japan for picking up the slack on the US failure.

It's great to hear Japan is back in the saddle. A strong Japan is essential for peace in the Far East (aka, Taiwan). Gotta love Ambassador Rahm Emanuel, he speaks clearly of China's bad behavior.

That ambassador is so lucky to have been interviewed by her. Damn, the envy…and the joy he got! She was way smiling at the end

Saigo could have become a 2nd Japan if the Vietcong didn't lie to its own people about the VietMinh. Most of China isn't doing well economically, just like Russia. The recent bankruptcies should warn the world about China.

Talking only about China bashing to the max. Countries in Asia should and must be cautious with Japan, all of them still remember WW2 which Japan brutally treated these nations.
