The United States and China publicly rebuked each other in the first face-to-face talks between senior officials from the two countries since Joe Biden took office. Representatives from the two countries met in Alaska where a highly unusual extended back-and-forth in front of the cameras took place when US secretary of state Antony Blinken and national security adviser Jake Sullivan opened their meeting with China’s top diplomat Yang Jiechi and State Councilor Wang Yi. Blinken pointed out "deep concerns" over China's actions relating to "Xinjiang, Hong Kong, Taiwan, cyber attacks on the United States, economic coercion of our allies". Yang responded with a 15-minute speech in Chinese lashing out out at what he called a struggling democracy in the US, poor treatment of minorities and foreign and trade policies

@@randychristensen7173 You have clearly have zero objective perspective on the matter. It's like a man with a loaded gun commenting that an unarmed man has nothing to fear from him. Depending on what kind of person the armed man is that might be true. But given the range of the human condition even an optimistic person has to admit that people with an advantage over others will tend to take it when they can - whether doing so is immoral or not.

@@DavidGonzalez-ff6yk - Britain voluntarily gave up its empire, which just to remind you, was probably the biggest the world has ever known. It continues to wield benign “soft power” far above its relative size. As for “wannabe” status, sure it has ambitions to expand its trading power beyond the former constraints imposed by EU membership.

Rules based international order should extend to the illegal invasion of countries, however America seems to forget about their ‘mistakes’ while simultaneously accusing others of similar, or smaller ones. The world is a much different place today, and the international order is being reshaped. This is an overwhelmingly positive step, as no country should have unilateral power to act as it decides. Due consideration should be given to all countries. And countries should work together to tackle the most pressing issues such as poverty, response to COVID-19, climate change, electrification, and so on.

Notice how the always say rules based international order and not "international law?" It's because one is a meaningless term that just means do as we say and the other is a set of legal rules agreed on by international courts. If the west said the later they'd be opening themselves up to attack because they violate international law more than any other country or block by far.
