Helium 3 is native to the aftermath of the Big Bang. The Moon has craters on the north and south poles and there may be H3 in the ice. A small amount of H3 could help make hydrogen fusion easier.

It’s not even being glamorized? Its only used so often in fiction because there are so many things that will never be known about them. They had an obsession with certain relics that they believed to hold power, which has been well documented. Nazis disappearing and living ‘normal’ lives is also documented. It’s the low hanging fruit in the fiction world for antagonists with crazy beliefs.
