US CMA - IS THIS CMA CERTIFICATION WORTH IT? // To earn the US CMA certification, you need to pass the CMA exam, which is one requirement of many. But don’t fret. The process to become a CMA is straight-forward. The CMA US designation requires a heavy investment of time to study for the exam, and money to pay for the exam fees and IMA membership. So is the US CMA worth it in the end? I’ll share the answer to this and other questions in this video. What is CMA is another big question that I will answer today.

From my experience, doing the reverse is a much better approach to moving up the ladder quicker and staying up there. Studying for the CMA exam is one example of how you can prepare yourself for an executive role ahead of time.

Hi Karina, if you don't have management accounting experience yet, but hold the CMA designation, I suggest to apply for accounting jobs that aren't in managerial accounting yet. The CMA will help you climb the corporate ladder faster but you will still need to climb it. Hope this helps.

I'm sorry but immigration advice is beyond the scope of what I do.There are so many personal factors to consider. I would advice you to discuss this with an attorney who understand the immigration laws of the country you want to move to. The US CMA is a global designation but you will still need to get a Visa to work in a different country.

Hi Kanav, earning your CMA will open doors and career opportunities. Pursuing an MBA is a very personal decision so I wouldn't be able to comment on that. But If I was in your shoes, I would finish the CMA then get a corporate job to gain work experience first. Then after a couple of years, if I feel I still want an MBA, then I'd go for it then.

Ali, Having previous knowledge and/or experience in accounting/finance is necessary to pass the exams. If you are seriously considering a career change into accounting, I would recommend taking accounting courses first to build a strong knowledge foundation, and apply for clerical accounting jobs to get your foot in the door.

To earn the CMA, you will need a bachelor's degree from any field. It would be super helpful if it was in accounting or finance though of course. The CMA is only worth it if you will pursue a career in accounting/finance.

Hi Babu, you'll need to meet ALL requirements before you can be officially certified. However, after passing your exams, the IMA gives candidates up to 7 years to fulfill the other requirements.
