I love how Zimbabweans talk, it's always like a subtle flex how smoothly they can answer any question 😅😂 "The currency for transaction in Zimbabwe is not just the Zimbabwe Dollar, it's also US Dollar (so so right)" "IT IS predominantly the US Dollar... "Perfect! It's the US dollar, nothing wrong with that...we are very comfortable with what's going on!"

It's reassuring that the man at the end says the Zimbabwean government is comfortable with what is going on, given it was the Zimbabwean government who appear not to be able to run their own currency in their new country that was basically gift wrapped in a big red ribbon to enjoy endless joys and rewards from. Geez...

No, don't blame everything solely on sanctions. Have you ever lived in Zimbabwe? If you knew the amount of corruption and mismanagement of state resources, you wouldn't sound so naive. If the country was being properly managed, it would have never crumbled even under sanctions.

I don’t feel bad for Zimbabwe cuz of what they did to their own farmers.
@rustyscrew5776

I’ll break it down for you. The Land Apportionment Act of 1930 allocated approximately 75% of the prime farm land in Zimbabwe to the white minority population, who made up less than 5% of the total population at the time. In contrast, the indigenous black population, who made up the majority of the population, were allocated only around 25% of the land, much of which was of poor quality and unsuitable for farming. The land allocated to the native black population was referred to as reserves. Of which my parents and grandparents lived in for a significant part of their lives. Coupled with being dehumanized, treated as second class citizens and having dogs sent on you for being out after your curfew or being in town without identification. If pretty obvious to see that there would a lot of resentment built up. But that wasn’t the catalyst for what , I will admit, was a regrettable land reform process. I’ll explain. After a ceasefire was called. The Lancaster House Agreements were held in the UK in 1979. The talks were mediated by the British government and involved representatives from the Rhodesian government and the political representatives from the native black population. Talks nearly broke down at one contentious issue. Land redistribution and reform. However they agreed that , land would be bought back from the white farmers as it had been worked on and had produced. In addition, the British government would help finance this. Enter Tony Blair’s government 1994. Who then back tracked from this agreement and refused to finance the land reform. This is what we don’t talk about! This is what everyone glosses over. As if it’s not perhaps the most significant part of the story. You a country of people that had been dehumanized , had just come from war, had been promised their land back. Not only did they weasel out the agreement, the consequences of doing so would mean that those same people would still have control of everything even after “independence”. I know we have idiots in the government now and everything has gone to shit. But it’s by design. We got sanctioned to oblivion, we got black listed and the people are suffering because of politics. I just wanted to highlight that it’s more nuanced than just saying the brutish natives attacked and stole from the pure and innocent hardworking white minority. No one deserves to suffer and if colonial rule was great, half of the world would not have vehemently opposed it.

The problem did not start because of they took land back from foreign farmers who stole the land. The problem started because of sanctions from the West. Zimbabwe is not as robust as Russia. The West are a bunch of hypocrites. Zimbabwe had the right to take the land back from foreigners. I do admit the implementation of the policy didnt go well, but there are may Zimbabwean farmers who are doing really farming their own land and owning the land. Its more fair.
