The US gave Ukraine one of its top secret weapons and we know this because Russia is finding remains of the ADM-160B decoy missile. This American decoy can appear on radar as any kind of aircraft from fighter jets to bombers to UAVs. Giving it the ability to completely distract enemy air defense, leaving the airspace uncontested. It flies autonomously, it can generate additional decoy targets in the air, jam enemy radar, and is very hard to shoot down. And this is likely how Ukraine has taken out massive amounts of Russian air defenses this week.

The idea of using decoys is actually brain dead. Any sandbox gamer did such stuff at one moment. Yk whats realy impressive? Actually doing it in rl. Those decoys arent just empty missiles or hot flares, they immitate beeing a fighter craft. Thats insane. I have no idea how tf one can fool radar like that. Radar is just a wave bouncing off objects and coming back and the amount of time it takes to come back tells the computer where am obstacle was. Due to the small nature of waves, this shows very well all kinds of shapes in the area. Now the question, how tf do you immitate solid shapes? For comparison thats like touching a nail and it feels like a whole ass car

You just have to send out what the system is looking for. Just need a blip of the right size and intensity. Radar doesnt really pick up on shape, just how the shape of an object reflects a signal back. Thats why basic radar reflectors work, they just make you reflect in a way that makes you more noticeable
