Russian tech is not good. India knows it very well specially with engines. Check how much IAF gets troubled with Russian jets, they require lot of maintenance, their engine life is less. China made engine based on Russian tech and see how bad they are, their stealth jet literally gives black smoke. Russia does not have such an engine. This is a special class of lightweight high performance flat rated engines. US, France and the Eurofighter consortium (UK / Germany) are the only ones who have successfully built such an engine.

Many people do not know anything, they listen to lectures like this and give interviews to selection panel and get selected as admin services without knowing anything. BHEL has collaboration with GE. From 1986. Tech transfer is more than 90%, but it does not help to make independently and sell to any customer of their. Even after 38 years of collaboration. This nonsense of 80% tech transfer is not understood by the lecturers or adminstrators. Always blah, blah blah. Demand 100% tech transfer with all parts made in India and tested 100% anything less than 100% is not OK even 99.9%. We have to develop more 1 agency who can develop jets. The stupid idea that only 1 agency works on that, no competition, delayed work, substandard work, easy to bribe / distrupt. So this sort blah, blah lectures, make student think, senseless info doesnt help. This is not good news at all.
