Not really any logical places for hoverboats to commercially operate in America, except maybe in Washington across the Puget. That's all I can think of. They typically travel short-medium distances in calm water.

@@oz4lex676 Many years ago when there was a transit strike in New York people were stranded because of it. A group of investors started to explore using hover craft in the Long Island sound to service New York, Connecticut, Long Island. Amazingly the transit strike was settled. FLY NAVY!!!

Brings back some awesome memories! I was stationed on the USS Whidbey Island, LSD 41. We carried up to 4 of the LCACS. They are so fun to watch, especially on nice calm weather days, just gliding over the mirror smooth water.

I was with G 3/10 on the Whidbey Island on a med float from Dec 89 to July 1st. The ship was still fairly new then.

@@twright3802 Nice! I had just transferred off of the Whidbey Island right before Dec '89, I got transferred over to the USS Newport, but I was in the Med at the same time you were. The Newport was part of that task force. We just missed each other. My job on the Whidbey Island was to hook up and disconnect your power cords when you were in the well deck. And I still had friends on the Whidbey Island and a few times in the Med when both of our ships were in the same port I'd come on the ship for a visit, so there is still a chance we passed each other at some point. Man, it's a small world. 😁

If all the enemy's beaches are contested and have things like 'Rommel's Asparagus' on them, then what? Presumably the beach must be flattened, literally. How we do that? Navy air power? Would it not be easier to come at them from the backside, capture and clean and then use LCAC for uncontested beaches? Is LCAC just for follow up action?

@ashtiboy2 жыл бұрын
well but they will have done a preventive strike with F-35Bs from the us wasp amphibious assault ship before they send in the hovercrafts with helicopter escort if it was a real warfare scenario all from the same ships by the way! ye also we now use F-35Bs for those us amphibious assault ships as well by the way! this is bescue they still can land vertically and can take off horizontally from the ampous assault ship bescue the ambous asult ships flight deck is like around 830 feet or roughly 258 meters so by the time the F-35B takes off it would have got more than enough speed and lift due to how high of the level when it gets off the ships flight deck during take off can just keep going without any need for a catapult. so no in fact they can in fact relatively use just like 3 wasps one with the assault config the second for sea control which is like 20 F-35Bs by the way very very scary and stealthy. then the last one would just have the standard config. this would be more than enough to scare most enemy forces on the coast lines.
