This new rush on the 'white gold' certainly isn't green, nor is it legally correct. Regarding most of the prospected areas world-wide, the test-drilling permissions as well as possible Mining licences are highly questionable! The permissions and licenses in question are issued by the various Governments, regardless of the fact, that the actual legal right of issue lies in most cases in the hands of Native Indigenous People, who are the Autonomous owners and keepers of the territories.

EVs are great and will go a long way to reduce our emissions. That being said, battery electric is not the way to go, and we can prevent a lot of tragedies like this by looking at the alternatives. Things like solar, or catinary vehicles. Other things include investing in public transit as a primary means of moving people. As well as the way we design cities, reducing the distance most of us need to travel on a regular basis. The issue is not the engine, but the idea of the car itself. Everywhere we go we drag the equivalent weight of 2 horses with us. meanwhile almost all of our commutes can be done with a vehicle that weighs a third of a human... for a fraction of the financial cost as well. Why do we do this to ourselves, driving a more polluting and costly vehicles, only to complain about the environmental and financial cost of our vehicles... If you think about it, and ignore everything society has ever told you, the car is just about the worst solution you could come up with to move the masses. But now that it has become painfully clear that cars are a massive issue, people believe that throwing a battery in it will fix everything wrong with cars... It won't And we should not desecrate these sacred lands as we put our hand in front of our eyes and greenwash our commuting norms.
@mrtopcat2 Жыл бұрын
13% of CO2 is coming from all traffic (planes, ships, trucks, trains, cars, motorcycles, you name it, everything that moves), while 7% is coming from cars. So the question is, if it wouldn't it be interesting to consider emerging COMPETEING green alternatives that are already in the works and that yield far better CO2/$ reduction and thereby are far more affordable.

Lithium is a flash in the pan type of technology. Lithium batteries play a significant role in current and future power production and storage. However, concerns have arisen due to their occasional tendency to undergo thermal runaway, resulting in fires. This has led to a decline in their popularity and raised questions about their long-term viability. Looking ahead, solid-state batteries are poised to emerge as a promising alternative to traditional lithium-ion batteries. The inherent safety benefits of solid-state technology, which eliminates the need for liquid electrolytes, address some of the safety concerns associated with lithium batteries. Researchers and manufacturers are actively pursuing the development of solid-state batteries to enhance their performance, safety, and environmental sustainability. Additionally, recent advancements in fusion power research have shown promise for practical and feasible applications. While fusion power has been a subject of scientific exploration for decades, ongoing developments indicate a potential breakthrough in harnessing fusion energy for widespread use. Fusion power, if successfully harnessed, could revolutionize the energy landscape, offering a virtually limitless and clean source of power.

Those who ran and hunted became ordinary ordinary soldiers. They killed a mammoth and decided to bury it in reserve. Then they came and started digging, but there was no mammoth! @@12time12 15 minute cities dont mean cars are banned. But unnecessary use of cars is discouraged. I live in Amsterdam (a 15 minute "hellhole" according to you probably) and own a car.
