I agree with the false narrative around Stephen. After his 4 teammates competed 3-5 events each, he only needed a 12.6 on pommel horse (his only event) to secure bronze. It's not "clutch" at all because he's expected to hit in the team final as a specialist and he could have fallen 2 times with the margin his teammates gave him and still gotten the bronze. Probably an AI generated title anyway like NBC and NBC sports keeps doing lazily.

@@justintavares2584 🔥❤️ Thank you! They are really going out of their way to convince everyone they made the right call with Stephen.

I am VERY HAPPY that the team won the bronze in the face of HEAVY criticism from so many 'fans' of certain gymnasts. It is ok to want to see you favs make the team but the OUTRIGHT disapproval and ILL WILL towards the team was just disgusting from folks on some of these gymnastic channels. No other country I know talks like this, NONE except 'Americans'. Caitlin Clark does not make the US team so for many of her fans, the US Women's basketball team is not worth watching and supporting. Gabby, Shilese and Skye are not on the US Women's gymnastic team, then the team is not worth watching or supporting either, same for the Men's team because of Khoi Young and the basketball team because of that one or the other. I mean REALLY? Anyway, once again I congratulate the US MEN'S TEAM for their victory and wish them continued success in the future IRRESPECTIVE of whosoever makes the team. And this is coming from a NON American who supports the country that showcases the most DIVERSE, MULTI-RACIAL/EHTNIC TOP athletes in the WORLD.

You hit the nail on the head! And I saw two articles that completely omitted Frederick and Asher altogether. And they giving Paul all this credit for low D routines. I can’t with these narratives.

I mean they all earned that. Even Brody 🙄. But if Stephen failed they wouldn’t have gotten the bronze. Like it’s super simple math. Either way let the guy get his flowers. It doesn’t mean anyone else is less responsible for the bronze. Why is this even a talking point 😂

I agree this time working out doesn't mean the next time will work. Congrats for the team bronze and impressive 18/18 hit. Women's teams like Canada and France hit almost all routines, so they won bronze in 2022 and 2023. Some actual strategy is needed for long term.

I completely agree with your assessment and I hate that someone will come in here and be like “please stop attacking Stephen”. Nobody has an issue with him, he’s just doing his job. The criticism goes out to the committee who put him on the spot in the first place and to the press who puts all the highlight on him for the “clutch”. I guess the silver lining at least is that he has good chances of scoring the pommel bronze or maybe silver even in event finals. Don’t see him beating Max Whitlock though.

@@tomeekun Exactly! The Committee should have never put Stephen in that position.

He did beat max in qualifications though. The us always prioritize medals, if he manages to hit his routine in EF he’s almost guaranteed a medal, the one he’s going to win I don’t know, so the sole purpose of him being on that team is to win a medal which he could do as I said earlier if he hits
