@@CombatArmsChannel have you ever given any thought to trying for special forces mate or are you happy enough as you are?? Are you planning to stay in the army for your whole life or would you ever wanna try something different in the future? Armed forces is definitely something I wish I'd have tried when I was in my teens or early twenties, hear everyone talk about how they make really good life long friends. I don't agree with the stuff our arsehole politicians get our countries involved in so I would never join for that reason but there's definitely plenty of good reasons to join I think.

If you want to know how old the show is, it must be after 2003 because there is a car with a 2003 registration plate on it. In the UK a normal registration plate will normally have 2 letters for instance SA then 2 numbers say...03 then generally 3 more letters, so SA03 GUD for instance would be a 2003 model. I guess they would have used a fairly new car for filming so I am guessing it was filmed in 2003/2004.

As one of my instructors in the Marine Corps used to say Space, Time, and Distance the only STD you ever want. Space to maneuver, Time to organize and Distance to gain use of better terrain. Change it to whatever you like. I'm sure your soldiers will appreciate it and it will stick in their minds. We used to do peels all the time in training to bound to the vehicles if we were dismounted. That and working in small teams to break contact on a patrol.

Always makes me emotional seeing sas / sbs stuff. My grandad was in the sbs in ww2. I knew he was “special” during ww2 but he never talked like that and why would he I suppose. I remember asking him if he killed anyone and for the first time in my life did I see him angry with me, I was about 13 … It was only when he passed that I looked into his wartime experiences. Mainly because when passing away he kept saying some extremely sad and horrific things that honestly 25 years later still haunt me. He was in Burma. Even met Prince Philip although I’m not 100% on how. The Japanese used to use pow as bayonet practice, although my grandad had no hate towards them later in life. They used to hide in the trees and much of fighting was close quarters combat. Luckily for me I have his fairbairn sykes combat dagger and his hat they wore in the jungle. Later in life he used to say “I’m not getting on a plane again I used to always take off and never land” at the time I thought he meant he had to parachute down but it turns out a lot of the planes used to just crash land into the jungle 😆
