Like others, music is fine, but the mix is much too loud. The older ‘more serious’ music in old Situation Room videos suited it far more. And the mix was better. ‘Sharp sounding’ music with high treble just distracts from Simon speaking. But yeah, the music mix is too loud in this video. It should be about 40% of what it is in the video. Simon’s narration should always take priority in the mix and clarity of speech.

Your videos would be better if there was not a constant stream of plucky, highly syncopated sound (music?) interfering with Simon's voice. His voice and cadence are great, one of my favorite things about the Warographics videos. The sounds detract from his voice and the content, to no discernible advantage. Being capable of adding a soundtrack doesn't mean it is a good idea or that you should do it.

Have you ever been stationed at Fort Drum in Northern New York? It was the coldest, most miserable place I’ve ever been stationed. It’s a heavy wet kind of snow, we would occasionally get lightning and thunder with the squalls coming off of Lake Ontario. Winter conditions can start at the beginning of October and stay that way until May. My first Christmas there with the wind chill it was-45 degrees (f). Whenever it warmed up to about 20 degrees it was like summer for us. We did PT outside regardless of what kind of weather and we only really went to the field in the winter.(all the NG units went in the summer) in the spring and “summer” it was pleasant enough, except for the damn mosquitoes. I’ve been to Alaska in the winter and in my opinion, Ft Drum was worse.

Just FYI: The United States Army already had a base very close to Russia in the Arctic Circle before any military collaboration with Finland. We have the 11th Airborne Division located at Fort Wainwright Alaska. Finland is closer to the populated of Russia since our base in Alaska is closer to the back side of Russia and Siberia. The troops in Alaska constantly train in sub-zero conditions so Finland is not needed for those operations. We might even be able to teach them a thing or two. However, learning how to train and fight together as a team in such conditions is always a plus.

The only reason to do anything of one's own accord is that the 'want' is greater than the 'not'. We can put the pride aside and accept that Finland was not forced to request NATO membership. Ultimately, such alliances allow for reduced military spending, improved military defence/response, and an increased level of deterrence. Any alliance or treaty is a measure of pragmatism, it's not like fuzzy feelings between two countries cause them to formally adopt a policy of military defense. Finland wanted to join NATO for the power and safety it offers, because the only reason to have not done so before was to prevent provoking Russia into a war that would have otherwise not happened... and perhaps the pride and confidence after once defending it's territory from Russia, the act that led to Russia being removed from NATO in the first place.

@33:45 It's interesting that you bring up Russian PMC's and Ugandan involvement in the DRC. Another KZbin channel I like to watch is Bald&Bankrupt, where in his most recent video he travels to Uganda and on his way to a location a man runs up to his minibus and asks is Bald (Benjamin) is Russian. Bald asks why do you think I'm Russian (or something like that) but the man just starts yelling about how they 'LOVE Putin!' at the time I thought it was odd but now knowing the East DRC has rare earth metals it makes the statement a little more logical.

I also saw the video and if I remember well, he said he was "Bela-RUSSIAN", he was or is married to a Belarussian girl, that also appeared in some of his videos. I doubt the natives understand the subtle difference between being Belarussian or Russian.

As a Swede I am disgusted with our politicians casually allowing the US to just waltz into our nation and have ''America only zones'' in our own military bases that are even immune to Swedish prosecution.

Same here from Finnish side. Truly a greatest fuck up in a long while by both of our governments and nobody even reported about it. I had to go and read the god damn DCA agreement myself since media didn't report on it before it was too late. I truly wonder how much they paid for our politicians to sign on that piece of turd paper. We Nordic nations are perfectly capable of taking care of our turf without having US come here to wreck our places and telling us how it needs to be done. I swore my oath to the Finnish nation, its people and the defence forces not to Washington. Yankees better behave like angels while in our land or they'll be swimming back home by the route of Arctic Ocean.

Random question for the people who are complaining about the music. How are you listening to the video? Is it with headphones? On speakers? TV? Do you have any special presets for EQ or mixing? I'm genuinely curious. I keep seeing these posts, but watching on my TV I can't even hear the music unless I focus in on it. I'm wondering if some are using headphones designed for music and are bad at speech. The music would be louder and clearer while the speech would be muffled a bit. If you'd like, please put up how you listen and how it sounds to you. Maybe we can figure out what's going on and maybe find a way for the editors to make everyone happy.

Note: when NATO says they are short such and such combat power what they mean is "under the assumption of all worst case estimates concerning opposition strength we need this to guarantee a quuck and decisive victory". When China says it, they mean "under the assumption no one actually tests the capabilities and finds out that it's much easier to make a shiny brochure than an actual weapon system". When Russia says it they're drunk.

About Finland and NATO. There was never a majority against NATO but traditionally a lot of the "lets wait and see" people. And then they did see Russia attacking a neighbour. Meanwhile Finland has taken part in NATO operations and made the Defence forces NATO ready for many years, something that has annoyed Putin for years too. What has not been pointed out is that there was this scary possibility that some American president could promise that NATO doesn't go further east in Europe. That was a very scary situation for Finland who has assumed joining NATO is just and only Fi nland's decision to apply for membership or not. It was also important for Finland that Sweden also applies for memebership, as they did. Then there is this uncertainty about NATO due to Trump and what this agreement between Finland and the US Army does it to take out the uncertainty of NATO as this agreement is not depending on NATO alone. Common sense and realpolittk.
