ScoutCrafter. I have several of the Leatger cases. One in as issued condition. Have tons of the knives. I find them at flea markets regularly for 5 or less. Most of them you can’t open the locking blade due to lack of Maint. A little oil and a tooth brush gets it going. I used to give them to my students when they would graduate my program. I found one with wood scales. Those are the WWII knives. The Marines had USMC stamped into the scales. Have that one to my son in the Corps. Klein still makes them and list in catalog. The pliers are kinda hard to find though. Stay safe brother and keep the great work coming.

Thats a great idea with the epoxy and the mesh backing! I saw remnants of fabric and cordage like that too. Dave Canterbury recommends that everyone should carry at least 2 ten foot lengths of paracord in your pocket with a loop on the end of each ten foot length to have on hand in the event you need to lash something real quick and I have been doing that for a year now. I have a small bag in my pocket with a few lengths like that along with little fabric remnants. My wife has a sewing machine in one of the bedrooms and she has a plastic bag with at least 1000 various buttons in them. Everyone collects something that can be useful.

Funny how a nice case makes something a *Kit.* Without the case it's just a pair of pliers and a pocket knife. A socket set without a nice case is just a ratchet and loose sockets but in that case you have a Sweet Set. Great restoration of the toolkit. The little knife would be illegal in the UK as well as it has a locking blade. I liked your description of returning items as unserviceable to the QM stores. When I served, things had to be so beaten up and broken to be almost unrecognizable before the QM would reissue. I think all QMs treat their stores like their own personal property and begrudge issuing anything out of them.

This may be too much, but you said you liked them. Enjoy! Wise Advice from a Farmer's Wife Whenever you return a borrowed pie pan, make sure it's got a warm pie in it. Invite lots of folks to supper. You can always add more water to the soup. There's no such thing as woman's work on a farm. There's just work. Make home a happy place for the children. Everybody returns to their happy place. Always keep a small light on in the kitchen window at night. If your man gets his truck stuck in the field, don't go in after him. Throw him a rope and pull him out with the tractor. Keep the kerosene lamp away from the the milk cow's leg. It's a whole lot easier to get breakfast from a chicken than a pig. Always pat the chickens when you take their eggs. It's easy to clean an empty house, but hard to live in one. All children spill milk. Learn to smile and wipe it up. Homemade's always better'n store bought. A tongue's like a knife. The sharper it is the deeper it cuts. A good neighbor always knows when to visit and when to leave. A city dog wants to run out the door, but a country dog stays on the porch 'cause he's not fenced-in. Always light birthday candles from the middle outward. Nothin' gets the frustrations out better'n splittn' wood. The longer dress hem, the more trusting the husband. Enjoy doing your children's laundry. Some day they'll be gone. You'll never catch a runnin' chicken but if you throw seed around the back door you'll have a skillet full by supper. Biscuits brown better with a little butter brushed on 'em. Check your shoelaces before runnin' to help somebody. Visit old people who can't get out. Some day you'll be one. The softer you talk, the closer folks'll listen. The colder the outhouse, the warmer the bed.

Great Job. Was issued the TL-33 in the Army…MOS was 31K. I wore this on my belt every day…even when we were back on base. We actually died ours black as to help with camouflage. I put a blacked out unit insignia on the front side..between the 2 brass connectors. Those were blacked out as well….usually by a marker. Those 2 stripper holes were key to splicing the WD1 wire….or called field como wire. Lanyard on the knife and pliers was always done….otherwise you were kissing a$$ to get another one issued to you. Link to the field manual that references the TL-33 and splicing techniques is www.bits.de/NRANEU/others/amd-us-archive/FM24-20%2856%29.pdf I can still splice como wire in my sleep. Funny story about jury duty. I have a Gerber artifact, small pry bar with a molded philips head and an excato knife blade. Honestly, the entire tool is a half inch longer than a key but the deputy saw it. Could not bring it in. So I take it back, take it off and bring it to my car across the street. Breeze through security. Whole thing takes maybe ten minutes. Well in that time more potential jurors arrived and the room is now full and I get dismissed.
