I still think the RAH66 looked sleeker, but alas.... was a money-sink in its development. It is good to see that the lessons taken from that design have endured... but can you imagine instead of horizonal rotary lift....Bell develop a Tiltrotor encased Hybrid-Electric Turbofan system? much like the fictional Orca Aircraft from the Command & Conquer franchise? It seems more and more viable with the progression of Bell Boeing designs. I think they are going to be around for a long while and pushing the envelope of future aircraft, and potentially space craft in the not-too-distant future.

I think they should refine it to be both stealthier, from radar and thermals, and be more modular such as being able to be outfitted with cargo or a personnel bay to escort troops at high speed. It would make the helicopter look like a much better deal to the Army/Marines/Navy.

I would like to see an optional 30mm gun, or mini gun. A chain gun is good too, however they usually need the barrels inspected about every 3500 rounds. I think the missile system is ok however I don't know much about it, the targeting range needs to be about 10 miles minimum. The French Tiger is probably as good, it's a shame they aren't supported well.

Just my personal opinion on the attack helicopters. They need to be down sized to a single pilot operation. More power plant and weapons technology. They have a purpose as close ground support. They need to be used in conjunction with drones monitoring the battlefield and taking on the more dangerous elements of the battlefield to save the helicopters. That’s just me!

*CORRECTION !!! THE BELL OH-58 KIOWA WARRIOR WAS NOT DEVELOPED IN THE 60'S... THIS HELICOPTER WAS DEVELOPED BY CARDOEN INDUSTRIES FROM CHILE IN THE 80'S. THEY BASED THEIR HELICOPTER ON A "BELL 206 L-III" AND INVITED PERSONAL OF BELL TO WORK ALONG WITH THEM. THE HELICOPTER WAS SO GOOD THAT PASSED ALL TESTS AND BELL ASKED THE CHILEAN MAKER TO BRING THE HELICOPTER TO THE U.S. --- WHEN THE HELICOPTER WAS BROUGHT TO FLORIDA; BELL STOLE THE HELICOPTER AND SINCE THE U.S. HAD SOME BEEF WITH THE OWNER OF CARDOEN INDUSTRIES, THEY NEVER RETURNED IT, WHICH IT HAD NEW AND SOPHISTICATED TECHNOLOGIES... WHEN BELL HAD THE HELICOPTER, THEY REPRODUCED IT AS THERE OWN... THE NAME OF THE CHILEAN HELICOPTER WAS "GUERRERO" WHICH IN ENGLISH IS "WARRIOR"... BELL CALLED IT: "KIOWA WARRIOR".* *CHEERS*

Mini birds more practical, for quick troop deployment or pickup and to bring some fire power to bear. While A10s are better for tanks, APCs, vehicles, and stationary targets. Our Bradley’s are kicking serious butt over in Ukraine with 20 mm canons and tow missiles, and are very fast. That’s better money spent. Our Abrams tanks are in serious trouble in the age of drones. And drones of all sizes are a force multiplier by themselves or in combination with Himars, artillery, Bradleys or dismounted troops on the ground. The basics remain shoot-move- and communicate. Drones of all sizes are the future. I hope the Pentegon and darpa are watching what the FPV drones are doing to Cold War Russian military. Nothing on the ground is safe with drones, Crome the lone infantryman to millions of dollars of weaponry. Helicopter gunships and tanks can still be taken out by handheld weapons and are now going the way of the dinosaurs. Which makes the Marines decision to get rid of tanks a smart move.
