How on earth did the republicans party go from McCain to Trump
@malayshah766
@malayshah766 3 жыл бұрын
It happened when a moderate Republican (Romney) did not win the election. A major chunk of republicans feared pendulum swinging too left with the passing of Obama care and few other policies at that time. This created an aura of anti-establishment within republican camp causing Trump to win the nomination. It also didn’t help that nothing positive (though very few things) got any coverage from media. This made 1/2 of population feel vilified and unheard

If what you say is true, then he had absolutely no business competing for the office of the Presidency, and the American people had absolutely no business in electing him. Anyone who enters the arena to compete must always face the very real possibility that they may lose. That’s what makes it a competition. If they don’t or won’t acknowledge this basic truth, then they’re not really competing and they should be disqualified immediately.

@@gamingwithiron1270 But the fact is, that Trump has not conceded yet does not mean he wont concede, to my knowledge he is working on multiple law suits, Trump will probably concede when the States announce the official winner of each State (Happens in mid-December I think - that was what made Al Gore concede (correct me if I am wrong on this I am not sure)) so maybe give Trump some time to concede? I just don't understand the rush with him conceding, if he concedes mid/late December that is enough, or why not? Still gives Biden a month to have his Team set up and get ready with classified information etc until he becomes the President. I understand Trump is very likely just throwing a tantrum, but what is the problem in giving Trump time? When the States need to announce the official Winner (again I think this is mid December correct me if I am wrong) Trump has no alternative left and will have to concede, but until then why the rush to have him concede?

It should be no problem if he refuses to concede, according to a Sky news interview with a law professor earlier. She said the US Congress can designate Biden as President-Elect before Trump has to leave the White House. But if Trump refuses to leave the White House, the military has the power to get him out of it! While things may look dire now looking back, they have not been well in some time. And yet, as some of us like to say here in Europe - the Roman Empire may have fallen but Romes wisdom and glory is inmortal. America may struggle. But I am certain that many good men and women, no matter what believes they may hold will step forward and take on the challange of helping to govern this great nation in the name of her citizens. One day, we will look back on this time of uncertainty and remember the mistakes that lead the west to this long moment but also to the solutions we have found to overcome our challanges. Our time is not yet over. And if we get only a bit lucky, it won't be for many generations. For our greatest treasure is not just the will or the hope for a better tomorrow but the knowledge we have gathered over many centuries and uncounted trials. If we don't forget the lessons that have already been taught to us, we will succeed. To the many lessons that still awaiting us.

Two candidates shown here had genuine reason to be upset, Al Gore and Richard Nixon. Most of us will remember 2000 and how the courts had to resolve who had won in Florida. In 1960, it is often claimed that it was organised crime which allowed JFK to win, as a historian I reject this but my opinion is in the minority. Trump is now playing to his base, they need to believe he was cheated and that is the difference between now and every other previous election.

Most of the speeches were made before I was born and during these days I've listened to presidential debates of the past... I can truly say that even though I'm from EU and didn't even exist during most of those speeches, I miss them and the world that produced them. It's sad that without strong external enemies we've become so divided internally. Time to stop fighting for equality of minorities for a while (it came far enough) and start fighting for equality of technical education and cultural understanding, the rest will naturally come after it.
