Great job and thanks for sharing your techniques. How do you bend the styrene rod for things like railing and conduit?

Thanks Todd! I just bend it around something round like a screwdriver shaft. I think it helps to hold the styrene in your hand for a minute first, to kind of warm it up. You have to bend it a little further than you want, cause it tends to spring back.

hi bill !!! excellent stuff !!! the us salt plant looks great and it was built " simply scratched" ... i am in springville,ny and visit the south buffalo areas for tips on building structures we see here in wny and, even though your pike depicts cny, you have done an excellent job all around !!! i model the bprr between bflo and pittsburgh, connecting with the wny&p and the ns in driftwood, so from there i am thinking on meeting your flrr to points east. my wny&p serves the barilla plant near cny already, so after a few beers and a double order of fresh, hot chicken wings, i think some type of connecting service between bprr/wny&p/ns/flrr will become a reality !!! what type diesels would you suggest i use to "fit-in" with the flrr ??? being retired now, the planning is quite fun !!! blessings, bill !!

Hi, thanks Dennis! Sounds like you've got a lot of railroad connections going on. BTW, the reporting marks for the Finger Lakes Railway are FGLK. As for the power, they use(d) GE B23-7's for quite a while. Those locos are aging out, so they are starting to fill in with leased EMD MP15 switchers now. So it depends on what era you model, and/or what you like. Have fun - Bill.

Fantastic Bill…what did you use the Liquitex Matt Medium for? Looks like you used it to glue the sign to building???

Thanks Anthony! Yes, I used the matte medium to glue the signs to the building. The building was already painted with acrylic paint, and the matte medium is acrylic as well, so it makes a really nice adhesive. Dries clear and flat.
