The Chinese hypersonic missiles has turned the Navy into sitting ducks. Slow large ships are no match for extremely fast maneuverable missiles specifically designed to take our aircraft carriers. It would seem that these missiles has rendered our navy to be very big valuable targets.

Hypersonic glide vehicles are formidable, but not indestructible. Like any other long range system, require satellite targeting. And it doesn’t fly at hypersonic speeds all the time, otherwise the whole missile would crumble its own airframe. It’s also extremely expensive. This is simple war tactics, you make something crazy ( aircraft carriers), your opponents make something crazier (HPV), and then you make something crazier (rapid Dragon), the cycle keeps going. Just 23 C-17’s could launch 1,000+ Jassm/Lrasm missiles and essentially sink any invasion fleet. And at ranges of 1000+ miles; be far outside their anti air range.
