I agree with you guys. But, the big question is "Can and will India do it" ? You need to have big military and financial clout to take on the US (as China is currently doing). US is a hegemonic power and will not like a less powerful nation giving it any challenge. We need to be patient and diplomatic till we have the financial / military clout on the same lines as US or China before making any such move.

@@savansanghvi3276 Well stated. Taking on Canada is one thing, but, taking on the US is an entirely new ballgame which has to be handled very carefully keeping our interests in mind. Besides, China (being the next potential super power) will use any such rift between India and the US to its full advantage even though it directly keeps challenging the US frequently (recently Blinken was not even given the red carpet treatment when he landed in Beijing and a junior Chinese officer was sent to greet him at the airport). Even if the US uses only economic sanctions against India (as it has for China and Russia) - this can create major economic havoc in India. China and Russia (as a group) has the financial / military muscle to take on the US and India is a long way to get into that league.

Before we weren't and what we were making was outdated so no one bought it so no exports. Make in India doesn't only refer to commercial enterprise but govt as well. The difference is govt can change quickly while private will take time as entrepreneurs develop. Start up ecosystem has already started and we have over 100 unicorns, how many did we have before 2014? Banking sector has also taken make in India seriously which is why our banking sector is so robust today, in fact it's literally the best currently.
