As a Retired Navy Chief, I have always been glad and proud that the Brits are our closest of allies. I have had the pleasure of working with many of Her Royal Majesty's ships, meeting many Royal Navy Sailors on many occasions, playing soccer (yes, it should be called football in the U.S.) with their Sailors (we always lost) and have even been onboard a few Royal Navy Ships (I went onboard a couple Royal Navy ships absolutely sober, but left so drunk I couldn't see straight -- great beer, a privilege we have not had in the U.S. Navy since prohibition.) It is vitally important to stability in the world that the United States and the United Kingdom remain close allies. Our politicians and the parties they represent come and go, but our two countries' military partnership always remains very close, steadfast, and our collective resolve undaunted by world events.

You know reading so much respect for each others forces is great... I'd like to share something if I may. During WW2 a german bomb exploded hitting a HUGE oil reserve in my home town of Falmouth in Cornwall, there was a river of fuel heading towards so many of our homes and after the first few started to burn just before dawn when it looked nothing was going to stop this river of fuel, almost 500 US army and navy turned up to help the locals stem the river of flames from destroying the seventy or eighty homes. Two American's were given british medals for taking a digger into the flames and covering the river of flames with earth. The other night I found the actual footage of how they fought to save my mothers and grandmothers home that day. My mum is 84 now, and still remembers that night as a ten or eleven year old when a bomb dropped on the oil tank whilst aiming for Falmouth Docks and just as it looked like everyone would loose their homes, the US turned up to help... :D There is a seat shelter made out of wood, out the seafront that they build for the people of Falmouth... Thank you to all of you that serve... Here's the video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f3TLfWtvqdyYg5Y

ian whiley Bro I couldn't belive my eyes or at the time I thought I was dreaming cause I thought all ex warriors of our island who battled on the front line in bloody combat would get the first rights to housing, benefits and everything else we think they should get without batting a eyelid. I started working with a friend who had contracts doing shelving in BnQ when his mate came to work with us. I didn't know he was ex army with 3 tours. 2 in Iraq and 1 in Afghanistan. I went to pick him up from a hostel where junkies and people who are just released from prison live. They have no where else to go because they chosen that lifestyle. Remember I didn't know he was a ex warrior and thought he was a guy who had problems who was trying to make right. How the fuck can you put a HERO sniper and overall bad ass in this hostel? He risked his life for his Queen and fellow islanders fighting the sand dwellers who want the end of Christianity and our Western way of life. He should never have been put in Water Side Hostel in Birmingham while people born in other lands creep their scroungy way in and seem to get put forward for everything us natives never get. He should have been allocated a 1 bed flat in a nice area. Oh no cause a somalian off the lorry deserves that more than him.

That'll never happen because our government can't afford it. We sold everything to the Indians and the Chinese when that bitch Thatcher was in power. David Cameron just continued where she left off and dug us a bigger grave. David Cameron even committed high treason at one point which still has the death penalty in the UK. But instead he fucked off and is now living the high life where really he should have been hanged publicly for what he did. The EU did us no favours either, letting all these immigrants through to take our money and jobs without the correct paperwork every English civilian has to have. It's fucking bullshit. The natives of the country come first. We are the ones who built it up from nothing and this is what we fucking get. Abuse from people that don't even fucking live here. It's happened to me before as well. Coming back from Afghanistan after leaving the army I had the bottom half of my left leg amputated after I was shot and my wound became infected. When I came back to England, one of the local Syrians thought I would be a good idea to throw rotten fruit at me and call me a murderer. I fought an autocratic movement and got called a murderer. Where's the fucking respect for what i did?

I'm a British Paratrooper of the 1980s and 1990s. I worked with "All American" and West German Brethren. In 1991 our Polish brothers jumped with us during a commemoration jump at Arnhem. We each do things differently - but that doesn't mean better or worse - except for gov funding and limitations. For example, in FIBUA (street fighting), US troops FILL captured buildings with troops. We don't have the numbers so we have to employ different tactics that work better for our numbers and equipment. The M16/M4 can be fired from either shoulder as we used to do with our SLRs. Can't do that with the SA80. Lots of adaptations. The devil is in the detail. Sure we'd shoot the shit with our 82nd AB pals - but there was respect. The WAAL crossing (Op Market-Garden) of the 504th PIR (82nd AB Div) says it all about the spirit of the international Airborne brotherhood. I'm guessing that the people posting "my army is better than yours" aren't in the military. Or are craphat "REMFs", if so... ;-) Alpha, Alpha, Tango, Whiskey...

Governments generally treat their soldiers with the bare minimum of respect to keep them loyal and the electorate placid. So long as you keep shooting in the right direction they couldn't care less what happens to you. Pay is enough to draw in new recruits, but barely enough to live on. Equipment is sourced from the lowest possible bidder while still remaining relatively functional. Make no mistake, to the average politician you're nothing more than a number on a sheet of paper. So long as the "KIA" number stays below the "active" number, they couldn't give two shits.

Was glad to see that several reporters put up their hands and one asked if Portugal and Britain were to agree on any new projects. The pol was struck dumb that the lower orders had more knowledge than he'd presented them with that day. It's always gratifying to see one of those creatures get frightened when his ignorance is shown to the entire audience and country. Yes: Portugal has been a British ally for centuries, the US only since 1942 or thereabouts. Anyway: good vid and I hope that there are many opportunities for further idea-sharing in the future. There are two things that I really miss now that I am retired, and they are closely interrelated: the guys and the jumping. There is a HUGE difference between being Airborne qualified and being a Paratrooper. The first only takes three weeks at Ft Benning. The second requires living the life and getting that mental attitude that remains with you even after you no longer are on jump status.

Had the pleasure of joining the 101st on a joint attachment in the Stan, some of the finest soldiers I have ever seen. The septics were loud, brash and took the piss out of our A2s but they are fucking ferocious in battle, seen it first hand, would never want a better Us regiment with me than the screaming eagles, rendezvous with destiny boys!

To all those who claims the Swedes shouldnt been in Afghanistan for being poor and lousy soldiers! I get sick by these thoughtless comments! We did as good job in Mazar e Sharif as any other battalion! My 2 best friends died over there so its the utter most disgusting disrespect to suggest we where lambs on the way to slaughter! Our SAS the SOG is created by the SAS and a spitting image in selection and training and moral. One SAS colonel said we where easier to conduct joint operations with than the SEALS , The Germans KSK etc! We have done several joint operation since Afghanistan!

This comments section can be summed up into two groups, those that are saying (insert name here) is better and have never served and are probably fourteen years old and those who have/are serving who couldn't care less because they have enough brain cells we to realise we are the closest allies in the world.

its great to see other countries coming to the US for training. we do have the resources, budget, weapons,and the best facilties. But it seems American troops don't go to the UK for lengthy training. im wondering its because UK doesn't have the training facilities or resources as in America. This stemming from the fact UK doean't have the same defense budget as America nor do their politicians support their troops as they do in the US. If that's the case Kama then what a shame. You have Britt soldiers and marines who want to fight for their country, yet their politicians don't give a damn about them.
@angrybrad13638 жыл бұрын
So true
@abes39258 жыл бұрын
Its because we already have everything here in the US. We can train in any type of terrain since we're a big country. Other countries don't have the variations of terrain therefor, them coming to the US.
@jackoakes88888 жыл бұрын
+The Great One not really true in this case because they're training in a field, the reason countries such as the USA and UK train together is so that they can implement new tactics and teachings gained from the other country into their own training
@jetpigeon87588 жыл бұрын
You should understand that the UK is small. it is around the same size as the state of Oregon. We do not have anywhere like Alaska or Arizona with regard to extremes of temperature and climate. That is why we sometimes train in Canada.

@LFSUxR3L0Dz19998 жыл бұрын
obviously the Uk is tiny compared to the US
@Mulberry20008 жыл бұрын
The size argument is not credible, you would not use the whole us marines to fight. It depends on training as well. If size mattered then china has the best army in the world it does not. Same as the us navy could not send 272 of its ships to the uk to attack. it probably would have build more do so. Do not forget the uk has the biggest navy and army in the revolution but had to hold allot them back to fight off France. Same if it was reserved. UK would have more quality troops and equipment on its door step the us would not. Also you would have to factor in uk allies like france etc, just like in the american revolution etc.

God bless both amazing forces but let me get this straight ok if you agree with me like this. The British, for all of you out there thinking the British are weak ha are you dumb. They have four of the most elite forces on the planet, e.g. SAS, SBS, Royal Marines, Gurkas etc. British train a ton of forces including Navy seals and Delta Force. They also have a lot better equipment, longer training of around 23 weeks, more experience etc. so to all my fellow Americans, understand this don't fuck with the British, and long live both countries. USA USA USA

Nameless 69 why is it so hard for you to believe? Pride maybe? Ill put you straight......the britush SAS have always been the fire runners of special forces. They have been setting the standard and raising it higher since they were formed. They not only train the U.S. specials but many other countries too. Their teaining is secind to none. Dont get me wrong, i admire the passion and loyalty you have to your country....cant fault it......but dont be so blinkered to facts. Beung an ex serviceman myself im speaking with knowledge and experience......tell me....where are you being ill informed from? Americans....all the gear but no idea. Thats not a bad thing, we used to love it when they rolled up into theater with their shops and bars. Theyd sell their grandma to to get hold of our cap badges.....they knew who the better force was and gave us the respect we deserved. Well until they shot us that was.....they love shooting at allies.
