I can assure you they do not shut down this road... I'm there 15 times a month and live close by and ridden with Jared Barnes, He does this every time he's there, mostly during the week...
@kitecattestecke23032 жыл бұрын
That would be insane stupid, he puts his life in the hand of "possibilities"... His talend won't help when some tourist driver flatten him with his bike under a big pickup.
@ifheavenhadaghetto11 жыл бұрын
Okay so I've watched this video a few times now and read some of the comments. It's a great video regardless of whether the road was shut down or not, whether it was sponsored or not, I think it was, GOPRO, but that doesn't matter. He's obviously a talented rider and this wasn't a spur of the moment tug on the Dragon's Tail, it was DEFINITELY a PLANNED production. Many say that he didn't ride at his OR his bike's limits.... Well given the environment and conditions at the time, THAT COULD HAVE BEEN his limits, we don't know, we're not him.Tire compounds, road surface conditions/temperature, squirrel shit, ALL play a factor. It's not a perfect day at Laguna. If you like motorcycling don't hate the video HOWEVER it came about. He got to ride an epic road in a way that YOU/ME probably NEVER will without flashing lights behind us, be it the local law enforcement OR ambulance. It's great in it's own right and as for the comments about the Goldwing ride, THAT is ALSO a very impressive ride. Grab on of those bikes, get your riding skills up to par, make sure your insurance is paid in full, and go do it yourself. Then you can talk all the shit you want. Until then, shut the fuck up, enjoy the video OR NOT, and you all have a HAPPY AND SAFE 2014 riding season. See you out there.....somewhere.

I ride this road quite a bit as I live really close by, but I have to say that this video gives me high anxiety! I have nowhere near the skill Jared has, but I have a sport bike and can ride though here at a pretty quick pace (I'm a legend in my own mind! :). The problem when riding this fast on this road is that the unknowns, that may not have even existed on the last run 30 min ago, can straight bite your ass hard and when they do bite the margin for error is razor thin. On coming traffic, mountain on one side, cliffs and drop off's with tall trees on the other! This road is a public road and does not close for an event or anything of that nature so these things scare the hell out of me and I will never even attempt what he does here! I do applaud him for his fearlessness and skill and hope he stays out of the weeds!

I love riding the dragon, I wished they would build a new highway into Robbinsville and make this a Motorcycle Park it's a treasure for bikers. No matter what your skill level or bike you will become lost in the dragon.
@BucketWheat10 жыл бұрын
Yes, it would be GREAT to make a "Bypass Hwy" nearby to at least handle the trucks and motor-coaches and such! Motorcycles only would be a lot to ask...because it IS ALSO a BLAST in a good tight sports car! :P But PLEASE, no duelly trucks, minivans, Family Sedans, Road Yachts, campers, nor trailers...nor ANY "commercial vehicles" ...
@BucketWheat9 жыл бұрын
Floyd Burdett GREAT to hear that my request HAS BEEN ANSWERED!! As of the first of 2015...NO MORE TRUCKS and Commercial Haulers! They have NOT built a "bypass" but there are already alternate routes that commercial trucks and other long vehicles and trailers can take... but NO!! Robert...it would be VERY WRONG to close the road to ONLY Motorcycles! Drivers have as much right to enjoy this road as motorcycles do! In fact, *I* enjoy Driving this road as much as Riding it! But it would be nice to have some "pull over zones" or some " passing zones" for slower vehicles to show the courtesy of allowing faster vehicles to go around them safely! Whether it is a bike or a car...

Many road racing wannabees trailor their bikes from all over the country and spend a week riding back and forth on this incredible 11 miles of road

And sure enough: on Oct, 26 2016 a video of him saying his final goodbyes after a really bad crash was posted on KZbin (?v=P8JpIvywtyU). As much as I bitch about California, One think I do love about it is we have roads like this all over the whole state. We have Telegraph canyon, Little "T" canyon road. The famous south grade of Palomar mountain, Ortega Highway, The Angles crest highway, the Palm to pines, an much more. These are just the ones that are well known. For what its worth I live in biker heaven. With that being said, I am from NC so the next time I get to go home I bring my bike.
@BucketWheat10 жыл бұрын
Check out Google Maps!! I do NOT disagree with you that there are a LOT of good roads, as you mentioned, in CA. But having lived in NC before, you should know that 'The Dragon' is NOT a singular piece of good roadway in the area! Almost ALL of those squiggly little lines on a google map, from about the north end of Lake Lanier, GA Clear up to Maryland and Virginia/Shenandoah are GOOD roads! I rode for over 10 hours last Saturday...over 400 miles(!), and it was almost ALL curvy mtn. roads...with good pavement and just one twisty road running into another twisty road! Blood Mountain, Moonshiner28, Devils Triangle, Scorpions Tail, SixGap, Diamondback, Devils Drop, The Guantlet, Suches Loop, Python, The Snake, Wayan Road, and many more...and some of the BEST are the "roads less traveled" that don't even show up on Google until you close in to about 3 or 4 clicks from the top of the scale... So, when you bring your bike, be adventurous, and check out some of those less-traveled roads, too!
@rdsii6410 жыл бұрын
Floyd Burdett God Bless you brother, the less traveled roads are the best ones!! You can bet your bottom dollar when I get to come home again I'm bringing my bike. If you ever get out my way, Start with the Pacific coast Highway, If the view doesn't give you a heart attack, you will love the ride or sure.
@BucketWheat10 жыл бұрын
YES! The PCH is definitely on my list! I DREAM of bringing my Brother and about 8 friends out to 'the left coast' for some of those delicious CA roads! And God Bless You, too! I love to meet riders who acknowledge each other, rather than an argument about whose roads are better, or whose bike is better! I say RIDE them ALL!! With the bike f your choice! :P

Are there cops there at night? Are there lots of cops in general? Are there times you could drive or ride at the limit? I plan on coming.
@BucketWheat10 жыл бұрын
Thaydath...There is NO time you can "ride at the Limit" unless, as in this video, the road is CLOSED DOWN by the Police! The speed limit is not enforced so much as "reckless driving" and crossing the center lines! The curves and other traffic are sort of a built in "speed limit"...and until you have ridden several times -- enough to 'know' the course -- good commonsense will tell you to keep some 'reserve' safety margin for 'surprises! You MUST remember this is a public Hwy. and that includes SEMI-Trucks and Motorcoaches! But you will find plenty of 'challenge' from one end to the other and back. To ride the Dragon like in the video would be absolute foolishness -- and SUICIDE for you AND whoever you run into!! You never know what is around the next blind curve! A bear or deer, or wet leaves in Fall, a minivan, a slower bike or car, or a TRUCK! :( So have a LOT of fun! Go back and forth several times, if you like! But BE SAFE, not foolish! :)
