Van Gaal just beat Berhalter with experience, his style can be boring at times but Van Gaal has been there and seen it at this point, i think you lot should be proud and remember this tournament is mainly preperation for 2026, where i think you should aim for the semis (quarters at least), i think leading up to the next world cup you should play more South American sides, one of your biggest problems in my opinion is CONCACAF, the best teams are you, Mexico (not that good compared to the South Americans) and in recent years Canada are emerging and Costa Rica have done well, when i say South Americans i dont even mean the heavyweights (Argentina or Brazil) i think games vs the likes of Uruguay, Chile and Colombia would benefit you lot massively

@@mrmr5580 why would you expect the US to get at least to QF or even semis with the WC we’ve had over the last I don’t know 4 world cups? That’s not even getting into group phase matchups and bracket placement or hell even the fact that teams like France, England, Brazil and even Spain and Portugal have lots of young talent. It not bad to be optimistic, but when you set the bar so high, without basis, you set yourself up for failure. I’ve heard pundits praising the team for qualifying against CONCACAF squads that frankly are not comparable to the type of opponents we’ll face in the world cup. Still a long way to go…
@mrmr5580 Жыл бұрын
@@LexWil7yes, youve got a long way to go to compete for the cup itself, but in 4 years you could surprise a few, youve got a good young side that i think with a bit more experience can become a very good side, i think in 4 years semis may be a stretch but should be the target, quarters might be more realistic, i think in 4 years the USMNT will be potentially good enough to get there
@petesperandio Жыл бұрын
@@mrmr5580 I honestly think we just need a head coach who has absolutely no relation to or experience with MLS or the USSF. The only good players in those systems are either foreign giants ending their careers with grace or homegrown talent that succeeds in spite of the way people are brought into the sport here in the US, not because of it. Our Olympics record clearly shows that we have what it takes to foster world class athletes. It's just that out of the 330-340 million people in this country, seemingly none of them can actually wield that talent effectively. The moment we can either find or bring in someone that can use what we have, we'll be punching well above our weight. Until that happens though, Gregg's formula will continue to make us easy pickings for even mildly competent coaches.

honestly, as an Australian, hearing the shortcomings that Gregg had is exactly how I felt about Graham Arnold when we lost to Japan and Saudi Arabia, after him putting us in a position that those two were must wins with pathetic draws against Oman and China but also hearing Max talk about the "spirit and belief" is basically what Graham Arnold instilled in our boys, in a much more impressive fashion when you put the US team and Australia team next to eachother, I think however Australia might get a boost with the assistant manager (who is currently René Meulensteen, ya know, the guy who was under Sir Alex for yonks) and I, and a lot of others let's be real, believe he has a not insignificant amount of help with tactics just interesting to hear how one tournament can make 2 extremely similar managers have completely different reactions, even tho the teams technically finished in the same way

Bro I can’t fathom why they left so many holes for passes like they can’t defend and I watched a hour of Greg being the dumbest coach 😭

I would have played a 5-2-3 with Adam’s and McKenzie as the cm and musa pulisic and Sargent as your three attackers. Would have allowed dest and Jedi to be more attack minded and given them less responsibilities defensively. Just a though Greg

This would be like me having to wear a NY Red Bulls kit as an NYC FC fan (I'm also a Chelsea fan who doesn't really hate the Spurs but DOES hate Arsenal quite a lot...so sorry to say, but I def would feel squirmy in an Arsenal kit).

F for Maqwell for wearing the Tottenham shirt, though i admit i like the colors of black purple and green. I don't think it's as bad as people say :)

I wasn't disappointed we lost, I was disappointed how we lost. The poor play was just sad.

What did you expect against a team ten times better than you?
@city6291 Жыл бұрын
@@j_james_01we're currently ranked 11th, they're ranked 7th... it's not a massive gap like this game made it seem like, but regardless they're better. The issue is Berhalters tactics are very ineffective despite having a squad who is very skilled and capable of very good showings. We just beat Uzbekistan 2-0 under Berhalter. Like we should be smashing their face in all day long, but we couldn't even get more than 2 goals despite having an entire team of top 5 league players and Uzbekistan not even having 1. So that's the issue, his tactics are horribly ineffective and our young skillful squad's potential is being wasted. Unless Berhalter can get it together (which he hasn't done in 5 years) we might not even make it out of groups in 2026, definitely not KO round just like 2022.

@@city6291 fifa rankings mean nothing 😂😂😂 you’re only ranked that highly because you play in concacaf and farm trophies against Honduras and Trinidad 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@city6291 Жыл бұрын
@@j_james_01 so you agree the USMNT has a horrible coach with terrible tactics despite decent talent (not world class or anything, but certainly not bad anymore). And that we lost that game in embarrassing fashion because of berhalters horrible non competitive high school tactics.

When Morocco does better than the Usa team, you know where complete dog because at least Morocco knows how to defend. Not to offend Morocco fans because the team of Morocco is actually good.
