Van Gaal just beat Berhalter with experience, his style can be boring at times but Van Gaal has been there and seen it at this point, i think you lot should be proud and remember this tournament is mainly preperation for 2026, where i think you should aim for the semis (quarters at least), i think leading up to the next world cup you should play more South American sides, one of your biggest problems in my opinion is CONCACAF, the best teams are you, Mexico (not that good compared to the South Americans) and in recent years Canada are emerging and Costa Rica have done well, when i say South Americans i dont even mean the heavyweights (Argentina or Brazil) i think games vs the likes of Uruguay, Chile and Colombia would benefit you lot massively

The only good players in those systems are either foreign giants ending their careers with grace or homegrown talent that succeeds in spite of the way people are brought into the sport here in the US, not because of it. Our Olympics record clearly shows that we have what it takes to foster world class athletes. It's just that out of the 330-340 million people in this country, seemingly none of them can actually wield that talent effectively. The moment we can either find or bring in someone that can use what we have, we'll be punching well above our weight. Until that happens though, Gregg's formula will continue to make us easy pickings for even mildly competent coaches.

I would have played a 5-2-3 with Adam’s and McKenzie as the cm and musa pulisic and Sargent as your three attackers. Would have allowed dest and Jedi to be more attack minded and given them less responsibilities defensively. Just a though Greg

​@@j_james_01we're currently ranked 11th, they're ranked 7th... it's not a massive gap like this game made it seem like, but regardless they're better. The issue is Berhalters tactics are very ineffective despite having a squad who is very skilled and capable of very good showings. We just beat Uzbekistan 2-0 under Berhalter. Like we should be smashing their face in all day long, but we couldn't even get more than 2 goals despite having an entire team of top 5 league players and Uzbekistan not even having 1. So that's the issue, his tactics are horribly ineffective and our young skillful squad's potential is being wasted. Unless Berhalter can get it together (which he hasn't done in 5 years) we might not even make it out of groups in 2026, definitely not KO round just like 2022.
