Severe storms hit Omaha and surrounding areas Tuesday.
Severe storms quickly developed in central Omaha and Council Bluffs on Tuesday, producing large hail and high winds.
Some of these hail reports reached 2.50 inches in diameter and extended from Council Bluffs to South Omaha and Bellevue.
Large hail up to 2.00 inches in diameter was also reported at Offutt AFB.
There was even a report of 3.00-inch hail east of Papillon.
Later in the evening, a line of damaging winds quickly intensified and swept through northern Douglas County, causing power outages and tree damage in north Omaha.
Eppley Airfield reported 90 mph wind gusts from this line of storms, prompting flight suspensions due to damage to the airport.
At one point, OPPD reported more than 30,000 residents were without power, mostly in north Omaha, where severe wind damage was most common.
About 45,000 metro Omaha residents were without power as of 10 p.m.
